I see what you're saying now. I believe guns should be left to states with the exception of overturning the second amendment. Therefore, the state should not allow them in state parks while it is up to the federal government to determine if they should be allowed in national parks. I happen to agree they shouldn't be allowed in either place, but was thinking in terms of the state as I believe most issues should be left up to states. However, if this bill were proposed before the U.S. House and Senate, I would be happy to vote for it as it's better than doing nothing to prevent gun violence such as not allowing rapists and child molesters to own firearms.

What I meant was that retired law enforcement and state officials may carry handguns but aren't required to conceal them.
