I'm speaking of course of their style of politicking. Policy differences notwithstanding, they're impossible to take seriously when you see them on foaming at the mouth over the contrived outrage du jour. They've clearly taken behavioral cues from the fundie preachers.  It's not a good look.

I think it's an intimidation tactic myself.

This thread has been read 124 times and only one response before me. I mean this thread isn't biased or anything oh no not at all. We can take a Democrats' OPINOINS on the Republican party at the same face value we can take someone's word about their ex-spouse. Why not ask Hillary Clinton what she thinks about Monica Lewinsky? No I got a better idea why not ask Muslims what they think of Santa Claus. I could just as easily ask why Democrats always promise free handouts to be paid for by raising taxes on the rich. Why is that their answer for everything? If you raised taxes on the rich to 100% for 20 years, we still wouldn't be able to pay for zilch. However, the average Democrat isn't sophisticated enough to figure that out so why do Democrats continue to promise what they know we can't pay for? Is it because they don't care? Are they ignorant? Do they only care about getting elected to office? Their promises which can't be made are comparable to a child running for class president in 6th grade who promises more days off, longer lunches, and extra field trips if elected. Why aren't Democrats embarrassed to act like sixth graders? Vote for me and you'll have free health care is pretty much the idea created in the average Democrat's mind whether or not liberal leftist politicians actually say it word for word. Oh they know what they're doing. And as far as frothy? Which party has more gays? Yes that will give you the frothy party. The only froth we have is Rick Santorum.

Because the party's appeal is based entirely upon hatred and fear, memphis.  Is there anything more obvious?

Democrats hate anyone who makes more money than them and they use fear by saying things to make their constituents think they'll lose their job and be poor without voting for their party. Your statement is really about the Democrats. They're the ones based on hatred and fear.

Seems like barfbag illustrates your point pretty well.

"contrived outrage du jour" Only Republicans?

Have you heard the name George Zimmerman lately? It's not like most of outraged Dems actually care either, until the media made a story out of it. Yet you never see these types of responses when a black man is killed in the inner city and the media doesn't make a big deal. It happens more than daily in Chicago and close to daily in a number of other American cities.

Professional outrage is used by liberals too. When you pay attention to politics long enough you realized that most people on either side really care about whatever the latest drummed up controversy to drive out the loyal partisan soldiers is. I'm not denying the Republicans do this; of course they do. But the Democrats are exactly the same.

I think you'll find it a very popular style in many parts of the country.

"Both sides outrage" aside, I generally feel that the reason baby-boomers are generally both more conservative and, um, frothy is because they all had so many siblings growing up and those who didn't (they wealthy) were very disconnected from their parents.  Bombast was a requirement growing up and individualism is a deep rooted desire.
