Facebook is pretty fast to ban nudity (ie. even a couple of nipples on the cover of a serious book about hippie culture was enough to get the authors page closed), but they allow hardcore misogyny, claiming it is just "controversial humor". Thoughts?

Sure, and we all know that, but the issue is if facebook has a responsibility to clean it up since its threatening, intimidating and contributes to making those attitudes appear "normal".

Compared to their strict line against something as harmless as nudity and their attitude to racism this seems hypocritic.

Facebook is evil, period.

It's really a shame it has become so utterly indispensable in modern life.

Ideally nothing should be prohibited, except perhaps for gratuitous spamming of visceral gorey material, scams and whatnot.

Wowza.

Nothing will change until:

1) HUGE public outcry.

2) MAJOR national media attention.

FB reacts when forced to.

I agree completely, FaceBook's failure to do anything speaks volumes, and what it says is pretty disgusting.
