At the age of 96 (he was born in 1920), it would be quite a feat to see the former Governor of Maryland, Marvin Mandel, who served as Governor from 1969 to 1979, make an atempt to become president in 2016. Tongue Yet so claims National Review columnist John Fund. Lol. Cheesy

Check it out here: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2014/09/19/fund_dems_may_have_to_take_hillary_but_they_dont_want_her.html

This is Governor Marvin Mandel: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvin_Mandel

Hey, if Gravel can run in '08, Stassen in '00, then why not Mandel '16?

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he spend several years in jail for mail fraud?

Nineteen months, according to Wikipedia. He was convicted for racketeering too.

This story sounds almost too crazy to be true, but maybe the old boy is getting senile. He would be the first Jewish President if elected. So three potential records: Oldest, first Jewish and first former convict.

That would be giving him too much credit.

Meh, former Governor Wayne Mixson of Florida would be much better candidate for Democrats than Mandel: from a swing state, yonger (92), champion of the farmers, etc.

I just found his wiki article, was Governor of Florida for the grand total of three days. Sounds like a brilliant candidate.

How about Former Gov. Raúl Héctor Castro of Arizona? He will appeal to the crucial voting groups of Mexican-Americans and centenarians. I suggest he choose someone a little younger as his running mate, though. How about John Glenn?

I don't know. It may offend Cuban-Americans, for some reason.

What is it with Maryland governors and having delusions of being president? That's three now!

Proximity to D.C., I guess.
