49% like Western culture, and 56% of those think it harms their culture.

I'm surprised both of those figures are so low... But then again, people don't always tell the truth on these surveys.

I'm always skeptical of international polling. Polls have enough problems in the US. Getting a representative sample of people in places as varied as Sumatra and Burkina Faso? That's a tall order.

Seems to be a far greater current of traditionalism than Christians...

It's worth noting here that the hard-line traditionalist Christian position that abortion is murder has no basis in any Islamic scripture. The relatively high rate of acceptance in Bangladesh is almost certainly related to the fact that abortion has been legal there for decades, although it is unclear which is cause and which is effect.

I wonder what fraction of Americans would correctly guess which country has the most Muslims. 3%?

Jewish law is relatively permissive. It's just the intermediate Abrahamic religion, Christianity that has those views.

Indonesia, but not for a long time anymore. Pakistan will soon overtake it.

Indonesia right now has ca. 247 Mio. people, of which 87% are Muslims (215 Mio.)

Pakistan had a population of 197.4 Mio. in the 2011 census, but a growth rate of 3% each year and also ca. 99% Muslims.

...

Which means that by 2020, Pakistan will have ca. 240 Mio. Muslims and Indonesia just 235 anymore.

How many Muslims is India likely to have in 2020? Their share of the population is increasing quite fast.
