No word on Nation, but I assume he's still alive. To be honest, I hadn't heard of this couple before, but they were obviously a very big part of the NC Democratic family. I feel very bad. RIP. I hope they'll inspire future leaders.

Ok, I'm actually really glad that the murderer isn't some right wing vigilante- even though that was my very first suspicion. A situation like that would have created awful vitriol between Reps and Dems in North Carolina, even if it had given the NC dems an effective martyr.

I hate that I'm thinking strategically like this, but it was my first thought.

Some local news website reports than the suspect was working for Nation's firm and was responsible for the finances of Brad Miller congressional campaign in 2010, on which FEC is inquiring due to fishy things inside it (the suspect, not Nation himself).
