Senator, I like your proposal for Mt. Atlasmore.  What do you think of carving Nym90's visage into the mountain as well, as he was our first president?

That could work; maybe I'll add Ebowed too. 6 is a nice number.

First I would like to congratulate Matt from VT in his stunning victory this weekend. He ran an impressive campaign and I look forward to working with him.

Now I'd like to revisit some of my work from the past because I know there are a lot of newer members or people who have misconceptions about where I might stand. While I obviously don't intend to enact laws I've already passed, I hope this can help voters understand my perspective. I was always an active Senator that introduced many bills as I have this term, so I can't go over it all, but:

The Right to Treatment Act- this law made medical marijuana available nationally. While cannabis is legal, the Mideast region tried to restrict its availability. I believe there are legitimate medicinal qualities to marijuana. The Senate and President Polnut agreed. This law has ensured treatment for millions of Atlasians.

The Education Expansion and Competitiveness Act and The National University & General Education Reform Act- these laws combined make huge investments in education. The first is an investment in math and science education beginning at the primary school level and on to the university level. The second began the creation and construction of world class universities in each region and repealed the tuition tax. It also invests in arts and cultural education and vocational career training.

The Transportation Infrastructure Investment Act- this act began a massive expansion of high speed rail, better connecting our large metro areas, and also provided regions with funds to expand rapid bus transit for students and commuters to take advantage of.

The Student Loan Protection Act- this act prevents the Bureau of student Finance from loaning to for-profit universities, which are mostly ponzi schemes that leave students with a useless paper, if that, and massive debt. The National University and General Education Reform Act also placed a tax on these profits so that they would be encouraged to adopt a more student-friendly model.

The Equal Rights Amendment- perhaps my greatest achievement. An amendment to the Constitution guaranteeing equal rights under the law for males and females alike, regardless of their sexual orientation. I was able to guide this through a Senate that was by far the most conservative I had seen before or after.

Other notable works of mine were the End to Imperialism Act, the New Atlasian Healthcare Act, and the Canine Protection Act, which I worked with then-Senator Bgwah on.

I was going to a long time ago, actually, but I went to the Mideast instead. I like to get to know the different regions, and while the Northeast is my obvious home, I think my ability to represent all Atlasians as an at large Senator is only enhanced by getting to know the unique and vibrant cultures of our diverse republic. Smiley

I had registered in Puerto Rico at one point but I changed my mind before the deadline and went back to the Northeast.

Id like to officially welcome MaxQue to the race. With such a strong field of candidates, I understand we will have tough choices to make when the election rolls around. I encourage everyone to take a look at my record and my activity levels and determine whether or not you think that I should remain in the Senate. Aside from my own array of proposals, I have also been active debating and contributing to others' proposals. Smiley

Aside from the bills I've already introduced, if I'm reelected you can expect to see me propose hospice care reform, stronger penalties for sexual predators (including a national registry for repeat felony offenders and grants to public safety officials at the regional level), a bill to fund research on PTSD (specifically for those who served in the armed forces), and exploring the possibility of an expansion of our national park system.

I'm also open to the creation of a new Statutory Review Commission at the federal level. This was one of my first projects in Atlasia, working with Homelycooking, Dallasfan and Polnut while I was Speaker of the Northeast Assembly two years ago. We cleaned out all of the old and redundant laws ad streamlined our legislation. I think after so many years and statute so complicated that Senators sometimes don't even know what they're voting on, this could be a successful venture. I think that Nix and Yankee would be particularly interested, so maybe we could make it a GOR thing, or get citizens involved too.

Vote for me in April and let's move Atlasia forward! Smiley

Senator Napoleon

Would you support a ban on the sale of all alcoholic drinks at all sporting events in Atlasia, amateur and professional?

Thank you for the question.

I would not support such a ban at the federal level. I think that the individual stadiums are the best ones to decide such a policy. Lincoln Financial Field may need it but if the Superdome power goes off, a drink may come in handy. Smiley

People will simply get more drunk before hand anyway. It might be better consider drink purchase limits and extra security.

Meant to throw in an endorsement here - working with the Senate as I have been I can attest to the passion as well as both the quality and quantity of work produced by Napoleon. One of my highest endorsements - the Senate would suffer a loss without him.

I'd like to announce my support for establishing a common market with Canada. For decades, Canada has been one of our closest allies and trading partners and the people of Canada and Atlasia share a deep historical and cultural bond. While I have reservations about some of the specifics of the initial proposal, I believe that establishing closer economic ties will be mutually beneficial so long as each nations' sovereignty remains intact. Hopefully this market will serve to bring the people of Canada and Atlasia closer together, to the point where I no longer mistype Canada as Canda when I go to make posts like this one. Smiley

MaxQue has raised the issue of a national child care program, and it's something I, too, support. Before Snowguy entered the October 2011 Presidential race, I helped my friend Governor Winfield with his platform and this was one of the things we had hoped to accomplish. In fact, the senior care I've already discussed was part of the ideas Winfield and I put together as well. I'll go ahead and repost it.

I stand behind the Atlasian National Healthcare Act.  I would like to ensure, however, that no Atlasians fall between the cracks.

Health care expenditures must be monitored carefully and brought into line to ensure that taxpayers are not getting gouged and ripped off by unscrupulous providers of goods and services to the health care industry.

I would like to look into a program that would provide for affordable daycare, not only for pre schoolers, but for school age children, say up to age twelve or thirteen, which I will call after school programs.  I would like to see so called latchkey kids have a healthy environment they can go to after school until their parents return home, so they do not have to go to an empty house and be alone.

Daycare for preschoolers should be educational and safe.  Daycares must be certified and meet standards so as to ensure that the most vulnerable in our society, young children, are safe and treated as young children should be.

After school programs for young people, for children say between the ages of six and twelve or thirteen, should be a place where these children can go after school until their parents or parent return home.  These programs could provide recreational activities for these young people, and an after school snack.

I would like to look into a seniors care program for those seniors who require one and cannot afford one, or are not being cared for by family members.  Seniors care facilities will have to meet stringent standards in order to ensure that these seniors are treated with respect and dignity and that their care meets necessary standards.  Seniors care facilities must not be permitted to take every last cent these seniors have.

Senator Clarence and I had intended to tackle hospice reform this session but due to the unfortunate circumstances that led to Clarence's absence, we were unable to finish our bill. If elected, I will work on establishing a child care program (hopefully with MaxQue, if he is elected) and a senior care program. I want to build these programs through the Internal Affairs Committee and bring public input into the crafting of these laws so that the programs can be as efficient and supportive as possible. While so much of our focus is on working families, we must never forget our youngest and oldest Atlasians. Atlasia's past, present, and future are all equally important, and we should respect that within our society as well.

So the election is now upon us. Go out and vote! Vote your conscience (unless you're a Liberal, in which case you should vote Party Grin ). There's a good set of candidates but Napoleon and the Poles always got along well.

Here, you can even have a napoleon:

And a Polish:

And some Napoleon to go with that:

Ok, enough free crap, go vote!! Smiley

Thank you Maxwell. Smiley Ultimately that decision rests with the voters, but I think we can all agree that the next session needs to be more active and focused than the last couple have been. Smiley
