In 1925, Arthur Henderson beat Ramsay MacDonald to win leadership of Labour and become Prime Minister. Henderson faced a budget crisis and the weakening of the pound. Henderson's solution was to pull out of the gold standard, something that divided even his own party and faced strong opposition from the Conservatives and the Liberals. Henderson called for another general election just weeks before the deadline came in hopes that he could sell his policy based on his personal integrity. Popular Labour policies though include the maintenance of unemployment insurance and Labour took a popular stance when it came to trade union relations, which advocated conciliation and negotiation.

The Conservatives are headed by Stanley Baldwin, a moderate conservative who is running as a sound economic manager. He is committed to the gold standard, but also supports continuation of Labour's unemployment insurance and even added old age pensions. Baldwin is also promoting his party as the party of peace. Cutting the military budget and aiming for eventual disarmament. The Tories, like the Liberals are advocating reform of the League of Nations.

The Liberals have faced internal conflicts since Winston Churchill became leader. Churchill has been ever more hawkish in stark contrast to Labour or the Tories. Churchill is advocating a middle road on the economy, but the Liberals are committed to remain in gold. The Liberals are moderate on the trade unions, closer with Labour, but they are advocating privatization of some of the industries that Labour nationalized in order to reduce the budget deficit, though not as far as the Tories.

So, does Labour earn another chance to fix the economy or will the Tories or Liberals sneak up the middle. For the final days of the campaign, opinion polls have it too close to call.

1 day to decide.

Conservative.

If the Tories can't pull a good performance I may start voting Liberal.

Liberal. I don't want the military dismantled, plus Churchill's Churchill.

This election will in all likelihood be the tipping point of how the War will go in 10 years. Also, I can answer any other questions you undecided voters might have.
