He celebrated his 50th birthday yesterday.

Mixed. He bring political stability to Ecuador and has generally improved the living conditions of the poor, but he can't stand the criticism. Also not a big fan of the extractive economic model nor of his foreign policy.

Anyway, to date, still probably the most successful Ecuadorian president.

FF, I think any man who manages to bring stability to a Latin American country is somewhat worthy of that title.

He's clearly far better than any of his predecessors. While he has some authoritarian and populist tendencies, they aren't nearly as worrisome as those of Chavez/Maduro, and his policies have been vastly successful. FF.

FF. When I went to Ecuador 5 years ago I also learned a lot about the political situation there and I think, that he is the right president for Ecuador.
