Ventura's election was pretty astonishing, and I was actually living in Minnesota at the time, so I got to be part of the moment, so to speak.  The other election I live through that was even more remarkable was Feingold winning the 1992 Democratic primary for that US Senate seat in Wisconsin....with about 70% of the vote, when he was in 3rd place in the polls just a few weeks earlier.  But then, I guess primaries are a lot more volatile than general elections.

If we're going with international elections, Social Credit going from 0 seats to a majority in Alberta - 1935 is pretty awesome.

As an American, I knew nothing of the run-up, but Canada's 1993 general election was a stunner for me when I heard the results:  the ruling Progressive Conservatives went into the election with 156 seats out of 295, and they managed to lose 154 of them.

After being the majority party for the 9 years immediately before that election, they ceased to exist 11 years afterward.
