As a contrast to the Pope and all...

As I stated in a recent post, yes, on multiple times. Probably not entirely coincidentally of course, though it could simply be due to being correlated with being under 35.

Yes, not that I would have had a chance with her since she's a lesbian.

Bringing the spiritual to the purely superficial at all times, what gives. Next, this youth fetish of yours is ridiculous, especially from someone not particularly young.

I should note that I wanted a younger pope based purely on the difficult and demanding aspect of the job.

No.  And that's just one of my irredeemably large number of spiritual problems.

You seriously think I'd relate more to gray hairs and people in the age bracket you'd find at a normal church service? Based on what I see if I type "Catholic Mass" on YouTube I'd be the youngest person in attendance if I ever went to one, and that might still be true even if I was ten years older.

Many people are capable of 'relat[ing]' to people who aren't in their 'age bracket'. Some even bother to do so.

You think that is really possible?  Smiley

I have to echo this.

BRTD, sadly you have not matured in the 9 years I have been here, even with the conversion. You say that you are some open minded liberal but you frequently come off as one of the most close minded, bigoted people here. Frankly you are maddening to me because I think you are a well meaning and good person but talking to you is exactly like talking to BushOK. Your worldview is just so horribly narrow and you experience the world entirely from the perspective of your own experience.  Was Jesus' message just for your little social clique of hipsters?  How can you not relate with people of all ages and backgrounds as a either fellow believers in the Gospel or even just human beings?  You really need to go out there and experience new things. Instead of your  comfort zone alt church, why don't you all do some outreach with the neglected olds as Jesus instructed?

Well, he has a point than the average age of the catholic Church goers in my area is probably higher than the retirement age.

Neglected olds? As I noted they already make up the majority at most churches. Of course Jesus' message was not just me and "my little social clique of hipsters" but we're the ones who are usually neglected and not represented in churches, not the olds.

Also I think people have to realize my whole "I won't go to a church where wearing a hoodie and jeans is common and standard" thing is not really all that superficial, since actually dressing formally gives me anxiety. I would not fit in well at all in a mostly olds church.

Reach out to "the other" BRTD. It will do your soul a world of good. It certainly has to mine.

I don't know, I feel BRTD's behavior is merely an exaggerated version of what everybody does. The fact that he's unusually explicit about it is more amusing to me than unfortunate.

JESUS TAP DANCING CHRIST. THERE IS MUCH MORE TO ACTUALLY LIVING A GOOD OR CHRISTIAN LIFE THAN A ONE HOUR FREAKING SUNDAY FASHION SHOW THAT SOOTHES YOUR EGO. I AM SORRY THAT THE THOUGHT OF WEARING A TIE GIVES YOU ANXIETY BUT PERHAPS YOU SHOULD START THINKING AND DOING FOR OTHERS ONCE IN A WHILE.
