In other words, he sure is acting like he's going to run for governor.

I'd just as soon take four more years of Rick Perry. This guy is trying to out-crazy the incumbent and providing none of the comic relief in the process.

Didn't Perry publicly state that he was running again and that Abbot and he came to an agreement on it?

Perry claimed earlier this year that Abbott had stated that he would not run if Perry opted to seek reelection. However, Abbott's office claimed no such conversation took place between the two. I think when all is said and done, Perry will probably announce, after the Legislature ends session at the end of May, that he is not going to run again, and be able to maintain his dignity with the implication that "I could have won again if I had run, but I just didn't want to." He'll leave office in January 2015, probably release another book soon after, and go into full-blown presidential campaign mode for as long as he can keep the gravy train going.

This is what Republicans actually think voters want, right?

In Texas it is. Scarily enough.

This was my first thought too, but then I realized we're talking about the same state that elected Ted Cruz by 16 points.

Someone ought to inform that joker that Texas ain't that much of a better place to live than North Korea.

North Korea:

A militaristic police state where citizens live on borderline subsistent diets, have no rights to free speech, no freedom of assembly, and everyone is supposed to mourn the death of their X-Box 360 playing Dennis Rodman friend dictator?

vs

An American state, while conservative and traditionalist, people still have basic civil liberties like the freedom of speech, the right to assemble, the right to trial, etc etc etc.  You can be a gay atheist person in Texas.  And, whlie you're busy doing that, you can have a large Mexican dinner that will go towards making you Mr. Fatass in 2018.

Saying Texas "ain't that much better" than North Korea is an insult to logic.  Sure, I understand it's politics are atrocious but it doesn't justify comparing it to a freaking police state.

With today's hack chastised, onto the nut:

This shouldn't be surprising.  Texas officeholders running for Governor tend to hold crazy views.  Like that one chick (backed by Ron Paul) who believed that the government was out to get us or something like that.  Or maybe she was just very stupid.  Can't really remember which.  The fact that a man like Rick Perry can be Governor there for a thousand years really says a lot about the place (which is really sad, considering that a lot of the time the people actually dislike the man quite a bit but still go back to electing him time and time again).

But really, this goes beyond the normal realm of insanity.  This man is comparing fellow countrymen to an oversized manchild tyrant.  I mean really, talk about going over the line.  Besides, why would Democrats need a nefarious plan to increase the vote in the state when the GOP is helping do that for them?

I still stand by what I said. A state where people vote for Louis Gohmert, Steve Stockman, Ted Cruz and that Abbott character, sounds like a nightmarish place to live.

He's right. Kim Jong Un is no threat to Texas.

And the abominations he considers "we" would have no place in the world left to wield influence in if the residents of Texas all voted. Tongue

Texan politics are so screwed up. I assume that no Texan politicians are calling for increased zoning requirements for fertilizer plants?
