Pakistan will hold elections on May 11th. These of course will have critical international implications. I am not an expert on Pakistani elections, but will provide a minimal sketch of what is going on. From what I have read, the PPP (the Bhutto family's party) is having trouble campaigning, due to the potential of violence. Polls have been all over the place, but indicate a drop in support of the PPP. The main candidates are Bilawali Bhutto Zardari (Benazir's son) for the left-leaning PPP, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of the Muslim League, and former cricketer Imran Khan of PTI which apparently did not participate in the last election.
