I've been wondering this since the convention. I believe this is the first one that Former Vice President Al Gore hasn't attended since like the 80's. He gave a full-throated endorsement to the POTUS back in 2008,, but chose to instead anchor Current TV this year. He isn't really happy with Obama about climate change, we all know that. But is he that mad?

He honestly probably doesn't care that much about electoral politics anymore and is happy to have all that behind him now.

Only thing Gore has to be pissed about is that Willy seemed to care more about Obama winning and campaigned harder for him than he ever did for Al in 2000.

Gore turned down Obama's offer to be EPA administrator and climate change czar back in 2009 so if he's mad about policy it's his own fault.

Al didn't want Willy to campaign for him in 2000, because he overestimated the damage caused by Monica.  Want more proof of that?  See Joe Lieberman.

The guy just made a huuuuuge chunk of change selling his network where he often championed climate change causes to Al Jazeera, which is more or less owned by the nation of Qatar... a nation that owes all of its success, I might add, to oil.

But I do honestly hope Obama doesn't go on some climate crusade.  Very recently, a new paper published by scientists in Norway cut global warming predictions in half simply because they included global temperature observations from after the year 2000 in the computer model program.  Prior to this, assumptions about how sensitive the earth's climate is to carbon dioxide included a dataset that assumed the 90s warming would continue.  The earth's temperature has been flat since 2000.  When this data was included, the model lowered the sensitivity of the earth's climate system to CO2 substantially... thus...

The model predicted a warming range of 1.9C with each doubling of carbon dioxide.. so, with CO2 levels projected to have doubled around 2050, the earth in the latter 21st century would be 1.9C warmer than 1750AD, prior to the industrial revolution... or about 1C (1.8F) warmer than at present.  This level of global warming is far below the nearly 4C level that many climate alarmists are predicting and below the 3C "point of no return" that climate scientists say would cause a major destabilization of the global ecosystem.

So basically.. the Norwegians found that if we do nothing to combat climate change... the effects will be absorbed by the biosphere without any irreversible tipping points being reached... and we'd easily adapt to it.

If carbon emissions fall significantly, which I suspect they will by 2050.. global warming could be even lower.

I seriously doubt he will.  He has more than enough on his plate already with reaching a Grand Bargain with Republicans and Democrats on entitlement spending and tax code reforms, gun control legislation, as well as immigration reform, plus the possible retirements of Supreme Court justices Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Stephen Breyer.

And all this before he becomes a lame duck after the 2014 midterms.

Sadly, all I hear about Gore recently is right-wingers castigating him for being rich and caring about climate change.

The Norwegians probably wouldn't mind a little global warming Tongue If only they could find a way to get a little more daylight in the winter too...

He hired Cenk Uyger.

I mean, he may not be, but I don't think he's really happy with the way things have gone.

And Snowguy716, the token non right-winger who joins the right-wingers on the issue of climate change denial.

Reasonable people can disagree on the issue.  Nor is the debate over.
