Booker has bowed out of the race for Governor and is running for Senate.

Christie vetoed gay marriage. He's not switching teams.

Even if Christie were to be facing Booker and lost, he'd have no reason to switch and nothing to gain from it, since if Christie doesn't get reelected, he's a big fat slab of Texas toast politically.

Besides, Christie has a chance at the GOP nomination in 2016.  Crist left the GOP because he had no chance of winning the nomination.

Wasn't Crist considered a possible nominee for President in 2009? He used to be pretty popular before 2010.

He was.

Crist, Ensign, Sanford, and Huntsman were considered to be the strongest people that Republicans could possibly run in 2012. Two resigned from sex scandals (and Ensign's had a lot of ethical issues), one was picked as ambassador by Obama, and one was hugged into GOP political death by Obama.

Ahh, true. But it did essentially disqualify him from entering the 2012 GOP primaries.

He'd first have to win a statewide office back as Democrat to have any credibility.

Christie vetoed gay marriage because he was a Republican and felt it politically necessary to do so to maintain party support in a 2013 primary. If Christie was a Democrat, he'd have felt it politically necessary to do the opposite. I don't believe for a second that Christie has a strong opinion either way on gay marriage. He would prefer the issue just go away and stop bothering him when he has more important things in his head he'd like to get done.

Truth be told, you could probably get half the GOP caucus in New Jersey to vote for gay marriage if there wasn't any whipping and you could promise them it wouldn't hurt them in a primary. Many Republicans there just aren't social conservatives, especially on this issue.

He's far too conservative.

This "Chris Christie the moderate" meme is getting really old now.
