or "Silly Season".

There's virtually nothing interesting happening politically in the next 2 months.

Only elections in a few countries that nobody really cares about.

Things get interesting again in September.

Let's all go the lake or beach in the meantime ... Wink

Fixed.

Unless you find what's happening in Brazil or Egypt uninteresting politically... Wink

September: Norway, Australia, Germany, Austria
Summer: One semi-interesting election in Japan

Better go spend time with the girlfriend.

Summer is the perfect time to discuss and predict all of the upcoming elections. Wink

The real boring part of the year - electorally speaking - is November to January, when the main electoral season is over and nothing new comes up until April/May.

There are some interesting by-elections coming up in Canada. But of course, we are a country that nobody really cares about Sad

Zimbabwe is fixed, otherwise unless Mugabe dies before then (which could happen he is 89) he will win.

Japan could be interesting though as although the LDP has dominated Japanese politics since 1945 a strong showing form the DP could make things interesting.

Also I found polling in the summer tends to be less accurate.  They tend to oversample older voters who often favour parties on the right while undersample younger ones.

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

While this is technically accurate, the political situation in Japan has changed dramatically over the past five years.

Japan is hardly interesting, because the LDP is heading for a huge landslide victory.

They are at ca. 50% in the new polls, with all other parties below 10% ...

The augurs for the House of Councillors election are mainly in how this LDP landslide victory will compare to LDP landslide victories past.

It will be interesting to see who comes in second in Cambodia.

Mali and Madagascar will also be very interesting if they don't get postponed.
