Remember, though that Nixon carried Genesee County over Kennedy in 1960, and so did the GOP candidate for governor that year.  Granted, things are different now, but it was still unionized then.

Genesee voted for Bernero over Snyder by a good margin in 2010. I'd say that's a good measure of whether a place is Safe D.

Underperform: Putnam County, WV (It's in Southern WV which has more characteristics of southerners)

for %'s Id say:

Monongalia: 58% to 38% Oldies wins (went 53% to 43% Romney ; 51% to 47% Obama '08)
Putnam: 48% to 47% Oldies wins (67% to 30% Romney ; 60% to 37% McCain ; Didnt even vote for Clinton in 1996 or 1992)
