After seeing the thread on states we would over- or under-perform in, I had an idea: why not do it with counties?  If you like this, then let's get started.  Feel free to start with me.

Do you mind if I add something to this thread: explain why.  (It's optional, though.)

Remember, though that Nixon carried Genesee County over Kennedy in 1960, and so did the GOP candidate for governor that year.  Granted, things are different now, but it was still unionized then.

As for you:

Genesee voted for Bernero over Snyder by a good margin in 2010. I'd say that's a good measure of whether a place is Safe D.

It was pretty close, but it did go for Bernero.  I'm talking about 1960, not 2010.  It probably is pretty safe D now.

Oldies:

Overperform: Monongalia County, WV (WVU is here, lots of Northern students here)
Underperform: Putnam County, WV (It's in Southern WV which has more characteristics of southerners)

for %'s Id say:

Monongalia: 58% to 38% Oldies wins (went 53% to 43% Romney ; 51% to 47% Obama '08)
Putnam: 48% to 47% Oldies wins (67% to 30% Romney ; 60% to 37% McCain ; Didnt even vote for Clinton in 1996 or 1992)
