I haven't. But I have known people in my classes that said they were going to give $20 to a friend if so-and-so candidate loses, or that they will have to wear an opposing candidate campaign T-shirt the whole day, or something like that. I was wondering have you? I think this is common than anyone realize, perhaps takes away the controversy or bickering that politics usually brings.

No, I have no confidence in either candidate's victory -- the polls are showing Obama, the early voting seems to suggest Romney, and there are big problems associated with the analysis of both. To some extent reminds me of 2004, but the analogy is imperfect.

Of course not; that would be gambling with the well-being of the entire world.

Yes, but it was with how many electoral votes Obama would get.  I bet on 399 (this was a couple months ago), and he chose 332.  I'm obviously going to lose the bet.

I've made no bets on the entirety of the election results, but I do have a bet with a Democratic friend who is 100% convinced that Obama will win the popular vote by 9-10% because of some nonsense conspiracy theory he has about the media pushing the narrative of a close race to keep ratings up.

I look forward to spending that 100$ at the bar when Romney loses the elections with 51% of the vote - provided I survive the rioting in downtown Dallas.

About a month ago I bet my friend that Romney would win because I knew that 5-7 point lead was a house of cards and that Romney would have prepped for the debate like a college kid who needs to ace the final to pass the course.

While I still think and hope the President will win, the cynical bloke in me bet against my guy for free drinks, and the idealistic kernel in me thinks the cost of 3 drinks is worth it if my guy wins.

Won't there be a riot if Obama loses in Dallas?

There will be a riot if the results of the election are thought to be illegitimate, regardless of the reason. Romney wins the PV by over a millions and loses - there will be clashes. Romney/Obama wins both by a razor thin margin, there will be charges of manipulation, and then there will be clashes. Frightening as it may be, this is going to get ugly unless there is a clear, legitimate winner - which is looking less and less likely everyday.

I see. I hope riots don't happen, but if they do, it would be a dark month for the country.

Obama winning the PV but losing in the EC would actually be the worst possible result if you're worried about rioting...

Not about who wins, but I took a bet with my friend yesterday. He said ev and pv will split, and I'm pretty adamant that ev and pv will both go to the winner. Only $5 if I lose though so no biggie.

One of my Republican friends says that if Obama gets re-elected he'd have to give away his XBox to a Democratic friend, that's pretty bad.
