Second fiddle to something called "the Daily Beast"? Oh, look upon these great works, and despair!

Death to the Internet!

Newsweek's been terrible since forever, you're not going to gain any elitist points by bemoaning its (semi-) demise.

Newsweek is not only terrible, it has never been good.  Newsweek has always been a terrible publication.  The Economist is 10x better at everything Newsweek tries to do, and has writers with actual brains.

But that's the Economist. The Economist is an excellent newspaper, and I'm not just saying nice things about it just because they said nice things about me. I read it regularly, and it's a wonderful publication. Newsweek is nowhere near it.

Woah, people who don't work at The Economist call it a newspaper?

I didn't realize I did that, woah. I suppose so. I recall an email sent to me by someone from the Economist responding to question on that topic, and I quote, "Well, in addition to offering opinion and analysis, we also try to cover the main news events each week in the political and business world. We just happen to do so on glossy paper. We do genuinely call it a newspaper, even amongst ourselves. For instance, just now, a colleague asked me what am I writing about for this week's paper."

That's terrible, I know technology is making things change very fast but you can't deny print media. Not everyone has an iPad or Kindle you to read tuff you know.

This is just a part of a larger trend of ditching print.

Indeed...technology moves on.  And like most things of this nature it will be good for everyone in the long run, but there will be some people hurt on the road there.
