I think it's time to re-angle the campaign.  Paul Ryan for Vice President: One Heartbeat To A Brighter Tomorrow.

Troll thread.

Taking away Romney's funds would hurt the GOP astronomically.  Unless he's caught in bed with a live boy or a dead girl, or something like that, they shouldn't even consider it even if Romney begins loosing in a landslide.

yes this is a trolling thread. However there is a kernel of an interesting debate here. Should the party spend all their Romney money on Romney or could they put some of it to House and Senate races. That becomes an even bigger point for Rove's superpac (Crossroads) and the Koch Bros/Adelson Superpac (Amer. for Prosperity). Crossroads has been the #1 outside spending group in the prez race. But if you look at the National Journal tracker, it seems like they havent spent on Romney in a month. Might they already be moving to focus on the Senate, where things have got a lot trickier post Akin?

Yes, they should focus on the senate races that they are in serious danger of losing: Indiana, Arizona, North Dakota, and Nebraska.

Romney can say whatever he wants if it sounds stupid or not based on the 1st amendment, but taking away money from him is wrong.

Well okay, a friend of mine in the "little chatroom crew" told me to elaborate, so I might as well will:

I'm sure most of you remember the little Todd Akin episode and how the RNC cut off his funds for making an incredible dumb statement.  Well Mitt Romney has made several and unlike Akin there isn't a chance that "he could be tied".

So may I ask, why not cut off Mitt Romney's funds?

No. Spending money to contest the presidential election will help downballot races far more than cutting it off to invest in the House and Senate. Romney getting 46% of the vote rather than 36% is crucial the Republicans chances of retaking the Senate and winning as many seats in the House as possible.

(Yes, I'm ignoring the trolling point that the Presidential election is already over)

Trolling aside, Romney has a ton of money in his own campaign account and I'm pretty sure the money in Romney's joint account with the RNC can't be easily reallocated without his approval. Cutting other funding to the Eomney campaign would free up very little assets while being absolutely horrible for the entire party's media narrative, so even if Romney went off the rails entirely this definitely wouldn't happen.
