OK, two can play the talking point games. Here is the Mittens powerpoint rebuttal to this particular WAPO hit.

I wonder if more jobs will go overseas, now that the Health Care tax on businesses have been implemented?

small businesses are Done, they're killed now.  Corporations who can afford paying health care premiums will take over the country.  Everyone will be working for Walmart INC as a non-unionized hourly employee.

Obama has encouraged more outsourcing - yay.

Here's the WaPo's ombudsman's response:

“Romney may not have done anything personally to ship U.S. jobs overseas before he left Bain in 1999, and the offshoring trend did accelerate after he left. But Bain knowingly and far-sightedly made strategic investments, with Romney at the helm, in these pioneering outsourcing firms in the late 1990s, which grew into some of the largest outsourcing and offshoring companies in the world. And Romney and Bain shared in their profits while he was chief executive and after he left.”

IIRC, the Romney campaign protested this story, scheduled to coincide with an Obama campaign attack on the same theme, and demanded a retraction.

WaPo gave a sort-of retraction, "blaming" the Obama campaign for "reading more into the story than what was actually said".

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2012/07/02/Wapo-backs-off-romney-outsource-claim

Quoting the WaPo ombudsman:  "The Obama campaign moved quickly to define what the article said, claiming that this transfer of jobs took place while Romney ran Bain. That’s not what the original article said. …"

How is that a retraction? It's a comment on what the Obama campaign did with the article, not the article itself.

I think people confuse outsourcing and offshoring. I don't care about outsourcing. I do care about offshoring.

Sadly this is the future. Its impossible to keep jobs in manufacturing in developed western countries with the existance of strong unions, the minimun wage and other such factors. I'm not necessarily saying these are all bad, but in the end companies will always go where they can maximise their profits.
