Last year, we saw two senators elected who weren't Democrats or Republicans, but those were very special circumstances, and not part of a broad trend or anything. Is there anywhere else in the country where independents might gain a seat in the House or Senate?

Years of governmental experience for both Lieberman and Sanders before the 2006 election: 61.

Lieberman was trusted by Connecticut voters and Sanders has been a fixture in VT politics since her shocked even himself by beating the Democratic mayor of Burlington in 1980.

Unless Angus King decides to challenge Susan Collins, Indys will again be without even a single chance of a Congressional victory.

One of Minnesota's CDs will occasionally give about 20% of the vote to an Independence Party candidate (Tammy Lee in 2006, Tom Foley in 2000), but that's about the best anyone will do.
