Now that he-that-is-excellent is gone, I'm thinking about running to continue the representation of his seat by the center-left. JFK was a bit more centrist then I, but I hope that if I run I will be recognised as the candidate most similar to JFK, because that'd be a great honour.

That doesn't mean that if I do run, I'd run as "JFK-lite". I'd run as myself with my own views, some of which clash with JFK's, most of which don't. I have experience in the senate and have a record of representing my district as my priority.

So basically, whats the feeling out there? Should I run?

Again, I just want to thank JFK for his terms, both whilst I've been in D5 and before when we were in the senate together. There was noone else in the senate that I'd go to first for advice on constitutionality, how best to serve the national interest, and basically just good advice.

Thanks in advance Smiley

Well, as expected, my opinion is you shouldn't run. We are pretty much the same when it comes to the issues.

I think you should run.

District 5 politics aren't as boring anymore.

I would strongly support a run by Hughento. He was a fine Senator for D3 and I have every confidence that he'd be just as good for D5.

Hugh could become the first person ever to represent two different Districts in the Senate. :-)

Hilariously he would still be representing the state of Iowa.

Hugh you should definitely run. It would be great to have more people in this race to give true competition. You're a great guy and, while I may not agree with you and alot of things, you would be a great Senator.
