The former Senator and Vice President would be 68 years old in 2016.

He could use his already well-established grassroots network to launch a serious bid for the Democratic nomination in 2016.

Seeing how popular Clinton is, is Gore not the next best thing?

What would be the reaction to a Gore campaign in 2016?

Well we need to have a national high-profile debate on climate change, and who better than Al Gore to bring it to the fore?

I would be shocked.

But yeah, not gonna happen, if it happened, he would be as done as we thought he was before. Plus it would've been 16 years since he's governed anything.

Sen. Albert N. Gore, Jr. (D-MS) would be a good candidate for the Democrats, if he wins this year.

His record as a VP on issues relevant to climate change are far less than stellar, and given whomever chooses to fund him (any company from any not-so-green industry), you can bet his sudden "Green"-ness will tone down while he'll be able to pull the wool over the eyes of people who realize how critical the environmental issue is.

In that way, I see him as being the worst candidate to have in terms of, if you are serious about climate change - which neither the Democrats nor the Republicans truly are.

Hillary would have a better chance of winning the general then Gore.

He's gotten real fat again

Plus, Tipper Gore apparently divorced him because he wouldn't shut up about global warming

the fact he didn't speak at the DNC means his last bit of establishment contact has dried up.  non-starter.

He might do as well as Dennis Kucinich in the primaries.

His last chance was 2008, which I think he would have won easily.

Agree with the former, not so much the latter.

Assuming he wins the nomination, he'd certainly win general election.

I'm not sure he'd win the nomination.

I like Gore and I would vote for him, but I don't see him running.  His time has passed.  2016 is going to be about the new faces of the Democratic Party.

The nomination (and probably the Presidency) was his for the taking in both 2004 and 2008. He declined. I don't know why he'd suddenly decide to run again in 2016.

He could've gotten 2004 on a silver platter, but he declined...after the 2008 cycle when his endorsement still mattered to an extent he's basically become entirely irrelevant.

I wonder how much he lost in his divorce with Tipper.
If he needs the money, he will likely stay in the the private sector.
If there are no more massage scandals, it could intrigue him to run, especially if the US economy goes in the toilet.
But I've never seen Gore as a risk-taking leader.  He's always been the cautious follower.  He just doesn't have the guts to be his own man and be in charge.  I think he's overrated in his political abilities.
