The media, for some reason (he hasn't exactly been an exciting President from a media perspective) wants Obama re-elected, so they're trying to tie everything negative going on to Republicans and make Obama seem like the cool hand at the wheel. The opposite is true, of course.

Perhaps the media, the majority of whom are left-leaning, find the Republican candidates reprehensible, and want Obama to win?

Obama has won this election. It would take another economic downturn to defeat him now, and I doubt that will happen this year.

I agree that this is hugely important, but I fail to see how it would be a negative for Obama either way.  If Obamacare is upheld, status quo is maintained and no cause for much uproar.  If Obamacare is overturned, it allows Obama to galvanize his base on the issue of "I'll be able to appoint replacement justices" etc. and makes that a centerpiece issue of the campaign.

Politico, you sound aggrieved that Republican primary voters want someone they can trust to push Republican positions.  If you actually believe in the entire Republican platform, what good does it do to elect a RINO who can only be trusted on the economic issues?  Then there is the whole question of whether Romney is electable.  The only way Romney can win is if the economy gets noticeably worse than it is now, but it isn't politically palatable to say that.  He's proven that in order to for him to win, it either has to be a place where the Republicans have no shot at picking up EVs or where he can massively outspend his opponent.  Romney won't be able to outspend Obama by 4:1 or more.

Not even with all those super PACS (i.e. Corporate America) acting on his behalf? 

Between Obama's campaign and Obama's affiliated SuperPACs, it's likely that his side will flat-out outspend Romney's.

Basically, I could see Romney use this video as a retort on the "etch-a-sketch" thing in the general election.  Obama accuses Romney of trying to pull a fast one on voters by changing his positions to suit his political interests.  Romney accuses Obama of hiding his positions during the campaign, with the intention of showing his true colors after the election, when he has more "flexibility".
