What does it mean to "win the election?"

Winning the election means forming the next government, which for our purposes will mean winning 324 seats in Parliament for a majority of 1. The Tories presently stand near to 165 seats.

Write-In: They need to get 225 seats or he is gone. I doubt they will.

Naturally, I want the liberals in every foreign country to win, so that they remain poor and continue to be second rate.

*Shrug* Do you mean their net overall gain though or the number of seats they pick up as they could easily pick up twenty but lose eighteen for a net gain of two Wink. Heh. Sorry, am tired, I doubt they will have a net gain above fifteen personally, if even that high, I'd say a pick-up of about thirty to forty could see them keep Howard, not definitely though

Yes, Australia, the poor, third-world country that basically ties our Human Development Index.

For some reason, I don't like this Howard guy. When I watch him during Prime Minister's questions I just have a bad feeling about him. In all fairness, though, I don't know that much about him so I don't know if I can say he's a bad leader. I do want someone new. Someone that can present themselves as a stronger leader. Howard doesn't do that....atleast not when I see him on TV.

And of course you want fat cats like Bush the Enron crooks to sponge off on everyone else, so that 30 years from now the USA disintegrates into something like Albania. Seriously, US education is the sh*ttiest in the developed world. You have to change that.

I believe Anne Widdecombe articulated this feeling best when she said that there was "something of the night" about him. Before anybody asks, Anne Widdecombe is a staunch authoritarian conservative.

Well Hague's net gain of one seat was not enough for him...

A net gain of twenty would probably be enough for Howard to keep his job if he wants too...might his kind-of-admitting there's not a chance in hell of the Tories' winning really be about lowering expectations so that he can keep his job?

Also, what about this scenario: The Tories lose seats, and not just one or two but, say, 15.
Nobody wants to lead this wreck of a party, and thus, if Howard doesn't resign, he can keep it.

From what I have seen (and heard from friends in the UK), you're right on the money in your feelings about Howard.

Howard has no positive agenda, no vision (kind of like the first President Bush) and has larded his 'shadow cabinet' with second-raters.

Further, Howard is quite anti-American (not intellectually, Howard's not shown any evidence of an intellect, but just reflexively, as in 'if the Labour PM gets along well with the Americans, Howard is against Americans).

Howard needs a final Tory score of greater than 200.

He needs to gain between 40 - 50 seats ( he wont).

Conservatives problem is that a lot of their supportters are in their 7o's and 80's and wont be around forever whereas their grandchildrens age group (30+) are not attracted to them.

P.S. WHERE CAN i get that D -UK logo for my replies

I'm aware. It was a toss-up for whether I should go after Philip for calling Australia a third world country or insulting the liberal party. I chose the former. Wink
