Meh, Kaptur is as solidly progressive as Kucinich without the attention whoring and attacking the party/Obama. Remember when Kucinich almost voted against the Affordable Care Act because it wasn't perfect single-payer? Screw him.

He should have.  The health care bill will cost people much more than help.

Kaptur is anti-choice, anti-marriage equality, pro-war, pro-Keystone Pipeline and pro-PATRIOT ACT.

And Kucinich supported/supports two violent dictators who were/are slaughtering their people.

Good one! We can have their blood on our hands instead.

If we had 50 democrats doing this, we would at least have public option now. Kucinich is a valuable voice. There aren't many social democrats, and the only way to make us more noticed is to attenton whore/troll/ [inks] [inks] up . Ron Paul made did that with libertarians in the Republican party. Obviously it's a really terrible move to back Assad/Gaddafi, but it's not nowhere nearly as bad as being a Republican or a Blue-dog. Kucinich was one of the few people who delivering the left-wing message loud and proud. We also lost Anthony Weiner to a scandal. Do you guys with red avatars want the entire party to be New Democrats just so we can win every election and yet never accomplish anything?

If anything, Kucinich is the ring leader here.  I think this is more Kucinich's project than the Republicans...and I commend him for that.  At least he's consistent and isn't a partisan hack.  I give him a lot of credit - no matter who's in power, he stands for what he believes.  I doubt the Republicans would be doing this if it were McCain instead of Obama.

Are you serious? Kucinich started out his political career as a pro-life, race-baiting populist and only became this granola-crunching peace advocate when he figured out that his old schtick wasn't working and he needed a new angle. The man is noting but an attention whore who will say or do anything to get attention. The only thing he's ever been consistent about is making sure he spends as much time as possible promoting himself.

Wow, I didn't know he actually supported Gaddafi and al-Assad. Jesus. I'm actually legitimately glad that he's lost then. That's disgusting.

Yeah, all of Lief and Meeker's posts here summed up Kucinch's sad career from disastrous Mayor to unremarkable Congressman to fake "progressive" very well.

Dennis Kucinich is an embarrassing joke who represented the absolute worst of the American "left". Good riddance. The Democratic Party is better off without "liberals" who support Gadaffi and Assad.

I don't agree with Kaptur on everything, but at least she's not a grandstanding, petty egomaniac who'd, oh, say, threaten to derail the first meaningful attempt at healthcare reform in a generation unless her ego were massaged for a couple of days.

Obviously it's a really terrible move to back Assad/Gaddafi, but it's not nowhere nearly as bad as being a Republican or a Blue-dog.

I don't know, I think supporting murderous dictators because you're playing up to your persona as a dippy New Age "liberal" is a lot worse than being a Republican or a Blue Dog, personally.

Again, good riddance, Dennis. Please don't come back.

To be fair, that's not exactly what Kucinich said because many of his words were mistranslated.  Was it the smart thing to do to go over there at such a time?  No, but neither was it a good idea for us to intervene in any way at all.  I'd take that minor slip over a pro-war, pro-status quo, socially conservative, center-right Democrat who only won because she's better at bringing pork barrels to her district.

So with Kucinich's loss, that means we've lost a grand total of four real progressives in the past two years (Weiner, Kucinich, Feingold, Grayson).  Two of those people are gone because they were completely abandoned by their party so that we would look "bipartisan".

Honestly.  If Dennis Kucinich is what now constitutes as a "fake Democrat", I can't even imagine what Gene Taylor must be.

Didn't Kucinich campaign for the Ohio GOP gerrymander?

Sad.  The end of an era, for now.  Hopefully he will continue to fight for progressive values like Feingold does and maybe return to politics again one day.

First off all, he was even more of a troll than Kucinich ever was. Second(and this is an honest question): do you honestly think he would actually fight for the Libyan/Syrian freedom you apparently support, were he still in office?

No, he was an outspoken progressive. Kucinich was a troll who preferred Republicans to Obama. You think Grayson would ever side with Republicans?

Second(and this is an honest question): do you honestly think he would actually fight for the Libyan/Syrian freedom you apparently support, were he still in office?

I trust that he wouldn't be collaborating with Gaddafi or Assad.

Representatives do not owe anything to their parties. Each ought to be voting in accordance to their respective convictions rather than entering into corrupt, clientelistic relationships with folks.

If a person is being overly opportunistic, manipulative, or a shameless hack they deserve to get called out on it... but still, in a two-party system the thought of "fake Democrats" existing is kind of hilarious. The party is far more interested in being a big-tent organization pandering to whoever it needs to get power than pursuing a bold, ideologically-pure vision for the future of the country.

America's Retarded Ten!

I didn't support Obama's thing with Libya either, but...suing him over this is RIDICULOUS.
