I propose we pursue merger with both the NPL and Liberal caucuses.

After dissolution. If it passes I expect a small number of RPPers to join, and if it fails on a technicality, I expect a large number of RPPers to join. I hope that JCPers will also take the plunge and hope they will once the vote is over and done with.

Gun rights
Abortion
Marriage
Euthanasia
Death Penalty

Gun rights- criminals break the law. Therfore if the law bans guns, criminals will break it by importing it, black market, etc. I support making it simple for law abiding citizens to buy guns. I oppose waiting periods as some times a person may believe their life is in danger and must defend themselves. I am also a strong supporter of the Castle Doctrine

Abortion- I oppose abortion except in the cases of mother's health, rape, or incest. I support laws to such extent

Marriage- I support the right of gays and lesbians to marry and adopt

Euthanasia- Personal decisions like sexual practices, marijuanua use, etc are able to be stopped or reversed. This decision can not be reversed.  I worry if this is legal a person may dcide to use it because they had a bad day or are mentally ill and depressed. I do not support the legality of euthanasia

Death Penalty- I have mixed feelings but would vote with my caucus in opposing it as we support every one's right to life

While I support your stance on Gun Rights, and my heart supports your stand on abortion (though my brain has no official stance), I'm concerned about where other NCP members stand, as we are aiming to be a centrist party.

Would you support Euthanasia if it was regulated? For a weird example, you'd need a doctors note to kill yourself?

I would not support euthanasia under any circumstances... all of us here have gone thru times when we have been down and it didnt seem like it would ever get better and you know what- it does. I understand a terminally illl person wanting to end life, but legalizing euthanasia would open the door for many people to quit when they have a long life ahead. I cannot support it

Should we make bridges illegal so that suicidal people wont jump from them? Smiley

Funny Napoleon but as we know there all all types of suicide... vehicular, suicide by cop, gunshot, etc. I have experienced a child attempting suicide and we discovered some undiagnosed psychological issues stemming from a childhood injury. The last thing I would want is for some one to end their life because of a situation they are in- any thing I can do to encourage people to get help rather then take their life is what I will do and I believe euthanasia would increase suicide

Generally, you aren't allowed to wake up one morning and decide to have a doctor end your life. It is typically reserved for the terminally ill experiencing unbearable pain and suffering.

Suicide, well, we can try to get the numbers down but if someone really wants to do it there's not many options for stopping them. Not really tied to euthanasia though.

Then again how do you define terminally ill? Not only with medical advancements but also considering depression is not psychological but also biological... for me it is a slippery slope where by allowing it in certain circumstances you open up a Pandora's box

I agree with Clarence, but I'm looking at this question from moral point of view.
God gives us life, and he takes it back.
