Person A:
-25 year old male.
-Lives in Charlotte, NC.
-Graduated from a private Christian high school.
-Went to UNC for a year, dropped out, moved to Charlotte and hasn't gone back to school yet.
-A few years ago played in a Christian metalcore band, now plays in a non-Christian emoviolence band.
-Has over $5000 worth of vinyl, mostly limited edition and colored presses from trendy hardcore bands.
-Hired an escort two years ago while reeling from a nasty breakup but hasn't told anyone.
-Works part time at a coffeeshop, also does some freelance sound system work for bars and churches.
-Drinks quite regularly, has lots of friends that smoke weed but generally is not interested in it.
-Went to church regularly until the last couple years when he fell out of habit, now typically only goes if invited by one of his friends that is an associate pastor and sometimes preaches at one.
-Did not vote in 2010, voted for Obama in 2008 primarily because of opposition to the Iraq War, and voted for Hagen because of a personal dislike for Dole and that disgust at her "Godless" ad. Didn't put much thought into the gubernatorial race so he just voted Dem. Did not vote in 2010 or 2006. Voted in 2004 for Kerry only because he promised his friend he'd vote against Bush.
-Has a lip ring and the upper part of his left arm above the elbow is covered in tattoos.

Person B:
-22 year old male.
-Graduating from Duke.
-From a very affluent Raleigh suburb.
-Graduated from a secular private high school.
-Parents are huge Republican donors.
-Has voted straight ticket Republican in every election he has ever voted in since he's been eligible to vote.
-Belongs to a fraternity.
-Has engaged in date rape and has groped plenty of girls but has never been arrested or charged.
-Got a DUI one year ago, his dad got him a high priced attorney that got him off fairly easily.
-Does not go to church except when he is at home with his family.

A doesn't seem likely to vote at all and if he does it would probably actually be against a ban. B is constructed as one of the most insanely awful human beings possible.

Person B. He sounds like the typical douchebag Republican who thinks that rape is ok by any standard of nature.

Had a bit of a panic that RFK had created an even more ludicrous scenario than you ever could, eh, BRTD?

Specifically, one of those "Young Republican" frat douchebags.

I've unfortunately met people like B in both scenarios, and I can certainly imagine people like A in this one. I can't say the same for A in RFK's.

Are the upper middle class Pubs secular or religious BRTD? That is more salient than all of the other stuff. Secular folks either support gay marriage, or don't give a damn about it, in overwhelming numbers. But gay marriage is not "sanctioned" by the Bible. And just because the kid is a spoiled amoral narcissist, with a strong sex drive, doesn't mean he has any interest in the gay issue. That is sort of apples and oranges.

If someone reported this thread for "trolling," I'd be really torn as to what to do about it.

I would totally read a short story/novella by BRTD.  his characters are always awesome (or at least the details he chooses to highlight are superb).

I'm not so sure actually: Person B is unlikely to be particularly religious. He doesn't go to church regularly and might not even believe in God, but he sure sounds like a macho homophobe who'd use lines of reasoning like, "Fags shouldn't be allowed to fag-marry because they're fags" or "Sissy boys shouldn't be allowed to play house."

I know people similar to both A and B in real life. The person I know who's similar to A has many gay friends and probably supports gay marriage. The people I know who are similar to B are macho homophobes of the type described above.

B is constructed as one of the most insanely awful human beings possible.

...because he's a Republican, of course.  (I'd mention that he's a date rapist, a hypocrite, a drunk driver, and probably thinks that he's above the law, but this would be redundant since I already mentioned that he's a Republican.)
