one of the more unfortunate features of my anxiety issues is how everyday tasks become a reason for excessive worry, they feel daunting, etc: for example, I'll spend an hour worrying about how I have to make myself breakfast, do the laundry, go brush my teeth, etc.  of course making a pot of coffee is one of these things.  so as a coping strategy I've taken to making it the night before and then putting it in the fridge!  it's a great idea!  nothing like inhaling 32oz of coffee in, like, 10 mins. gets you buzzed as sh**t, I feel like I could conquer the world.

I used to do that, actually.  But here I always have a Coke when I first wake up, and then immediately after eating get a big iced coffee.

Cold coffee?  No thanks.

Same goes for tea and soup.  Call me a barbarian, but I ain't drinkin' no iced coffee or iced tea.  Even vichyssoise I'll heat up because I don't like it cold.

Cold fish is okay, though.  Not sure why.  Just about anything else I have to heat up, but I can open a tub of leftover fish and eat it right out of the refrigerator, with my fingers.  Mmmmm.

An excellent idea, that I wish I'd thought of a few years ago. I personally solved this problem by buying a coffee pot with an auto-brew timer. Hot coffee that's already prepared when I wake up (and I can smell in the air when my alarm goes off) makes waking up in the morning much easier.

You're making that reference twice?

If you're drinking entire pots of coffee, these are definite time savers and they'll save you money too. Not that I'm recommending being severely addicted to caffeine but if you're going to stay an addict anyways, you might as well help your teeth look nicer and save a few dollars.

I normally have a coffee (instant...) when I wake up, and as the kettle boils I make a deposit in the Bank of Sanitation. Usually liquid assets. Too easy.

I then only have one to three more through the day.

How can you drink that stuff?  Is it the kind in a teabag or is it the granulated kind that magically dissolves?  The former is sorta kinda acceptable.. the latter makes me cringe to think about.

I'm a coffee elitist.. I buy full bean and grind it at home.  The stuff I buy is roasted in the next town over.  Gotta support the locals!

So, you're strictly a Civet Cat Coffee man?

You and hugh should go into business.  Between you, you seem to have both ends covered.

My ability to savour anything within the first 30-45 minutes of the day is zero, so yeah, granulated instant. During the day tend to go for the better stuff/cafe.

Reasonably strong correlation on the other question, angus.
