Sounds like a "likely no" for now, though no confirmation.

It seems there's no way Nelson can win reelection and in this case, he simply should retire. I mean, who on earth would like to be remembered as formerly the most popular politician in his state, who lost reelection in landslide?

Here in Nebraska, I see at least two pro-Ben Nelson TV ads a day.  He sure seems like he is intent on running again based on those ads, anyway.  He defends his support for Social Security and Medicare and how he is working hard for all Nebraskans, making tough decisions.

Time will tell, but if he doesn't run, maybe Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle would go for it.  He survived a recall vote earlier this year, so perhaps he could carry this city, anyway.  Another possibility would be Scott Kleeb, loser to Johanns in 2008 and Adrian Smith (CD-3) in 2006.

I mean, part of me wants him to just retire. 'Those DSCC dollars could be better spent in friendlier states, like MT, VA and MO.

It's probably better for the Dems if he does, rather than have them risk another embarrassing loss like Blanche Lincoln had.
