Mark Rubio.   He is so adorable (and I say this as a 100% straight heterosexual Christian male), and together they make John Edwards look like a homeless hoboshagger.  I swear, just seeing a picture of Romney and Rubio makes me blush!  A Romney/Rubio ticket will also be finansically beneficial to the hair gel and Botox industry, just like John F. Kennedy made skinny black ties popular.

GO MITT!  ROMNEY/RUBIO, TAKING BACK AMERICA FOR TRUE CONSERVATIVE PRINICAPLS!

Interesting.

Romney/Burr actually was something I never thought of before.

Cain/Rubio would be a great ticket.  That way when the GOP gets mutilated and loses the Black vote and Hispanic vote again by massive margins maybe reality will sink in.

Christie, Rubio, Gingrich, Burr, or, for my personal wild & crazy guess, Susana Martinez.

the correct answer Smiley

Nonsense, people (specifically, black people) only voted for Obama because he was black!

Yes, I've heard people say that with seriousness.

This guy.  He eats flies.  He dates a pig.  He's weird-looking.  Yet, he's a Hollywood star.

Romney could use some of that mojo.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were Christie.

Side note: Biden v. Christie debate would be epic.

Christie would be great, but both from the Northeast, Massachusetts and New Jersey?  I'm not sure how well that would go over.

But then again, remember Clinton and Gore, Arkansas, Tennessee.

I suppose it could work.

Is it tasteless for me to mention that I thought you were talking about Arnold Schwarzenegger?

He should make a play for moderates by picking the 2002 Mitt Romney.

Or did someone else already make that joke? Tongue

I'm not sure the plan to become "more liberal, atheist, secular" to attract the liberal states is the way to go.

I think John Thune makes the most sense on paper at least. Has the conservative credentials to rally the Tea Party, offsets the Mormon cocerns as an Evangelical, and has congressional experience.

Only downside is that he wouldn't be as flashy of a pick as Rubio or Martinez. Which the Romney campaign may feel they need.

I think we have a winner here.  Petraeus pleases every american except for the code pinkers/move on folks.

He's got a built in base with the military in Northern Virginia, and other military southern states.
He's got foreign policy creditials that Romney lacks.  He's a serious politician who want be tarnished by tabloid antics and talk radio blowhards.  I would say the extremists on the left and the right would be scared to personally criticize him.

Obama and Biden can't attack him because he served in their administration.  The worst they can do is call him a traitor, but he can counter by saying he thinks Romney is best equipped to handle the greatest economic crisis of our time.

He just started at CIA, so will he risk losing a guaranteed 5 year job, for a more public one as VP?

Frankly, this is a brilliant and inspired move if he can pull it off.  Obama may have thought he got rid of Petraeus in the CIA, but he may have handed the Republicans a VP Golden Boy with the stature and experience to win over the nation.

Marco Rubio.

He's popular among conservatives. He's young, hispanic, charismatic, and from Florida.

Besides, that just makes the Romney campaign more alliterative.

I agree with you. Jindal fits the VP type. And bringing one of Perry's earliest supporters on board would certainly be an advantage for Romney.

One problem with Jindal, of course, is that he's Catholic. (He's also not the best communicator, but few recent VP nominees have been.) I don't know if I buy the argument that the Republican party won't accept the first (would it really be the first?) presidential ticket without a Protestant, but it does seem like a potential hiccough.

"Romney-Roemer" sounds even better.
