Here is a master thread for the fundraising race of all the national party committees. Everything from the national committees down to the national committees for state legislative races. If there is enough disclosure we'll also cover the major outside groups.

Hopefully this thread will be useful for folks who want to the current numbers in 1 spot and for those that want to see how the numbers are changing since other sites replace last quarters numbers with this quarters numbers. Also as this thread fills up folks will finally be able to input key areas into graphs and chart the trends.

Apparently the college republican's attempt at creating a "GOP facebook" failed miserably hence the huge expenditures in previous years. Can't imagine they have much cash on hand.

I'll tell you one thing though. It's a b*tch trying to get a handle on how the Unions operate. I think there can be little doubt they are the real pro's. They've got PAC's, 527s, 501(c)'s, that don't have to report, "political education funds", etc. Plus you can tell by looking at it that they are pro's at moving the money around. And every dollar you do actually see in those PAC's and "political education funds" you know there is tons more sitting in the 501(c) accounts, so do you even post an amount that is way less than what you know they are actually holding?

That is quite the conundrum.  Is even possible to link 501(c)'s to specific Unions or is there no way to find this out?

Most of the money will stay in their 501(c)s. And you can pick them out. They just say "not reporting donors", "partial donors", etc., but don't actually give you any donor or fundraising information. Then you look on the other site and its just 0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0. Which is to be expected with 501(c)s.

The only weird thing is that at least when you look at the Chamber they just have their 501(c). When you look at American Action Network again they just have their 501(c). You look at a union and they've got 10 orgs(not including non federal ones) and only 2 of those are reporting anything. You can't match up which of the other 8 are big players or not or if they all are. The PAC's are tiny which is ideal when you want to funnel money to candidates. And you don't have a clue what the hell these "political education groups" are. You know a few million in fundraising means that its a big player, but you know their 501 accounts are 10 if not 100 times bigger, so its a waste of time to post their "political education" account because it wont tell you anything. Most of the expenditure, fundraising, organizing, etc. will occur outside of it.

All of these except I believe Republican Majority have 501(c)4 counterparts for non disclosed donors. The Dem PACs are new so we can't speculate on 501(c)4 performance because we don't have an example from last cycle like we do with Crossroads. So its anybodies guess how much anonymous donations they are getting, but the apparently the news reports say its not pretty.

Now their should be SuperPAC numbers for each of the following but there aren't for some reason. They are really good at making you scratch your head

3)American Fedn of St/Cnty/Munic Employees
4)AFL-CIO
Not like it matters anyway because these organizations will be primarily using their 501(c)5 status to engage in all the political spending they want. It does beg the question why they even have SPACs. My guess is that they are used exclusively to take 501(c)5 money and direct it towards more aggressive ads under the SPAC structure. Ads that would maybe cross the line  if they were reported spent by a 501(c)5 and not an SPAC. If that is the case there is nothing illegal about that. We will be sure to be kept in the dark in how much money they have available though.


These are 501(c)4's(only) created exclusively for elections that don't have to report so we have no clue how much they raised.

3)Americans For Job Security(GOP)
4)60 Plus Association(GOP)
5)Americans for Tax Reform(GOP)
There could be more on the Dems side, but we wont know until they start spending. 501(c)4's created exclusively for elections pop out of nowhere when the elections get going. Since Dems are creating this year we wont know until later if they are focused creating 501(c)4 only groups or are sticking with the combo's like at the top.

These are Organizations have spent a lot on electioneering, but aren't created solely for electioneering. Some have SPACs, but realistically most of their money is going to sit in 501(c)4

5)League of Conservation Voters(Dem)

And I left off those groups that who did spend a lot last cycle, but not on electioneering. In a future post I'll show you examples of that.

Granted I just picked some arbitrary line for the major groups, but here is the current total from all of above.

And this is because Dems are utilizing more dual structures than the GOP are.
