Tattooing was illegal in South Carolina and Oklahoma until last decade.

I describe this as Bad Place-esque because of the outcry in the US to ban anything as the first solution to any "problem" proposed, see Four Loko.

In India they say Firangis, and I found it amusing the Thais have a word very similar to that, so there you go.

Oh I see..  well that is a step towards good taste, but I agree it isn't a good sign generally.
