Oh it's a video. How yummy. To try to be "fair" to Perry (and that is damn hard for me to do since I dislike the man so much), I think a possible interpretation is that Bruce was saying Perry was an idiot about the Fed (obviously!), rather than an idiot in general. But maybe not!  Tongue

There are a lot of Republicans with common sense. They are called true fiscal conservatives.

If Perry or Bachmann is nominated will you hold your nose and vote for Obama again?

Of course!  Well, maybe Perry will really surprise me, but I strongly doubt it. I just don't think he has either the character or "the necessaries."  As for Bachmann, come on guy. Give me a break!  Surely you didn't think I would ever consider voting for that woman did you?  Jeez!

Narrow or broad definition of "idiot" a difference it does not make.  Given Perry's remark about Bernanke, his terrible grades in Econ, and the fact the US is in a very weak recovery I have serious doubts about turning over the reins of the economy to this guy.

No.

Common sense is sending the party faithful out to save the Republicans.

Well, I hope that's true too, Link.  But the Bush family does know how to speak without saying anything themselves.

Yes, yes.  It's quite obvious the GOP will only nominate someone who panders to the loud extremist sects who show up to vote in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.   And 60% of Americans will soundly reject them.

Unless Romney or Huntsman is nominated, this might be the first time we've seen undecided voters soundly break for the incumbent.

Of course, we're all hacks.

I don't think it was planned.  I think it just popped out, because this guy actually really understands macroeconomics, and to one of those boys, what Perry says just screams out I-D-I-O-T. Heck, I would have said exactly the same thing. Perry has about as much gravitas as my neighbor's dog.

You know, that avatar of yours seems to make me more inclined to agree with you, as I do here in your sarcasm. The tea-par tiers know nothing about economics.

Given that he was a Ray Gun advisor, ought we to treat this comment as some kind of endorsement?

Probably not. Reagan might have starred with a monkey but as far as we know he didn't chomp down on any bananas, if you get my drift.

Not in the least. That definition applies perfectly to Mr. ban the Fed and return to the gold standard.

Actually, he wants to end legal tender so as to end the Fed's monopoly. Ending it and returning to a gold standard would just be an acceptable alternative.

Also, you may note that absolutely none of the other candidates predicted the 09 recession or the current one, whereas Ron Paul spotted both several years early.

I thought Republicans had disowned Bartlett  for speaking sensibly about fiscal policy sounding too much like a Democrat
