Just because Rubio is on the ticket (and I doubt Perry would pick him), doesnt negate the fact Perry would still do pretty bad in a GE matchup.

I really don't think Rubio will be the 2012 VP candidate.

I'd take Perry/Rubio, but I think Obama starts with an advantage.  Perry's a touch too shrill for the mainstream.

Rubio has stated several times that he wants to be a Senator, not a VP in 2012.

I see Perry/Rubio as an oil-and-water combo that just would not work politically. Catholic voters just do not trust extreme Fundamentalist Protestants.

But even at that, Hispanic voters will surely distrust any politician who seeks to gut public education to create subsidies or tax cuts for "job creators" who create minimum-wage jobs.  Hispanics may not have the reputation of intellectuals, but they certainly recognize the need for quality K-12 education that gives them the chance to leave or stay out of poverty. The President has far more  influence on public policy than does the Vice-President.

Perry has his work cut out in establishing trust. Anti-intellectualism that attacks public schools is fittingly unpopular in America.  Leave the anti-intellectualism for assaults upon post-modern 'philosophers', and not upon high-school math teachers.

Perry/Ayotte would make a much better ticket.

Perry also said he wouldn't run for president..

Looks like the winner of your poll is "wishful thinking".

I think especially Giuliani but also Bachmann are each more likely VP picks for Perry than Rubio (though Rubio will be on the shortlist).  Bachmann might happen if Perry's team found they needed to do it in order to win the nomination.  Otherwise, I think Giuliani is far more likely than Rubio to end up running mate if Perry is the nominee.  But I don't get why this place continually exaggerates the effect of running mates.  Look at 88 and 2004.  They generally don't matter.

I don't think Perry would choose Rubio, but anyway, assuming that November 2012's climate is similar to that of today...Perry/Obama.
