And I thought The Guardian was a serious newspaper.

You want to know a place where you can donate money to ask your question?

Hmm... if a bigot like CJK is willing to support Damon, perhaps there's something to this candidacy.

Sure, Damon 2012 is a fantasy, but what about Damon 2024?  If he can succeed Jerry Brown as Governor of California, I think he could have a real shot.

"I figure, *%#! it, why not just shoot my buddy, take his job, give it to his sworn enemy, hike up gas prices, bomb a village, club a baby seal, hit the hash pipe and join the National Guard?  I could be elected president."

Well, we already had one actor as President and he couldn't possibly be any worse than his predecessor.. Even if he decided to have us literally dig deeper holes for ourselves.

And he'd only be 54.  Good thoughts.  Hopefully electing a bad actor like Schwarzeneggar (and Reagan for that matter) as a bad Governor won't discourage California from electing a good actor good Governor.

I'd consider voting for him even if he doesn't have any political experience.

I'm eagerly awaiting his debate with Jimmy McMillan.

I believe Damon is a real old-fashioned Keynesian liberal.  Not that I'm saying he'll ever enter politics or would have any success if he did, just pointing out he's a sterling character despite being an only very moderately appealing actor.

Most such actors are that way.

He was good enough in The Departed and Bourne movies to be more than "moderately appealing" to me, though he hasn't done anything notably good in awhile.

Challenging Obama may be a bit ambitious. I do see he is from Massachusetts though, could he be the guy to knock off Scott Brown?

People tend to scoff at the idea of celebrities shooting for political office, but as many have pointed out it has been done before, and Damon seems to have what it takes. Smart (maybe even brilliant --have you seen Good Will Hunting?), engaged, handsome, charismatic...

He could be formidable.
