Labour:

1. Middle-aged and working-class. A big union person. Hates the Tories, but also doesn't have that much time for immigrants and gay people. Isn't too keen on "that middle-class elitist Ed Miliband" either.

2. Young and lower middle-class. University student. Hates the "ConDem Coalition" for their policies on tuition fees. Socially liberal. Voted Lib Dem in 2010, but has since switched to Labour. Quite likes Ed Miliband.

Conservative:

1. Middle-aged or old-aged. Upper working-class. Votes Tory mainly to keep Labour out nowadays. Thinks David Cameron is too soft on immigrants and the EU. Wishes William Hague was (still) Tory leader.

2. Middle-aged. Middle-class. Lives in small town in the Home Counties. Likes David Cameron quite a lot, but prefers Ken Clarke. Thinks John Major was great. Socially moderate.

I think voters can be all these things and none regardless of party Smiley

Though if I may add a 3rd for Labour

3. Middle aged, upper middle class Guardian reader. Thinks getting money for childcare through Tax Credits on an income of £40,000 makes them a welfare recipent and a victim of cuts and is therefore in 'solidarity' with a '1' type Labour voter. Thinks Kate Middleton is middle class. Thinks George Obsourne is a toff, but doesn't think Harriet Harman is. Does not actually know anyone who is a '1' type Labour voter and is mostly friends with '2' type Tory voters.

Can I add the sterotypical voters for Swedish parties?

Left Party - A young person in an urban area, who tries as hard as possible to look like a punkrocker from the 70's. Don't own a pair of jeans that doesn't have holes on them, and wears a minimum of ten badges with political messages on your jacket. A complete drung junkie who thinks it's very important with a multi-cultural society, even though they only have a single non-ethnic swedish friend.

Social Democrats (Type one) - A middle aged person in the north of Sweden. If it's a man he works in some sort of heavy industry, or in the forst industry. If it's a woman she works in the public sector, as a teacher or a nurse. Generally a very pessimistic and grumpy person who thinks everything used to be better when they were young. Complains about everything, especially their own party, who was also better when they were young. Still votes for them since their parents, and grand parents, and great grand parents did so.

Social Democrats (Type two) - A younger immigrant, most likly of middle-eastern or balkan heritidge, who lives in a poor concrete council estate in a poor ghetto-like suburb. Never attended school except to vandalise it, unemployed and unwilling to find work that requires them to put up any physical or intelectual effort, and does instead leech of different sorts of social programs to get by. Vandalise, steal, acts agressive, and thinks they've been treated badly by all Swedes. Thinks gay people are icky and sick.

Green Party - A young smart and carer driven woman (or gay man) who lives in a big urban city. Has never seen a cow in her life except on zoo never been a forest bigger than the one in the city park. Thinks it's reasonable to double gas taxes for the enviorment's sake, after all she lives in the city and only has a two minute walk to closest bus station.

Centre Party - A person who lives in the middle of nowhere, is very scared of nuclear power, and owns at least one tractor. Although nuclear power is the persons enemy number one, they absolutly would never accept a wind mill anywhere near their farm. Generally complain a lot about people living in places with more than 200 inhabitans, refering to them as city-dwellers.

Christian Democrat - Very old person, quite likly over 70, who lives in a small town on the South Swedish highland, and like most inhabitans in the area are very cheap, religious, and old-fashioned. Most likly a pentecostlian or baptist christian who dislikes abortion and gay people. Doesn't approve of drinking besides communion wine. Biggest hobby is playing bingo.

Moderate (Type one) - A spoiled brat who likes wild parties and expensive clothes. Complain about poor people being lazy, even though they've never worked a day in their lives and allow their rich parents to take up the bill for them. Talk in a horrible fake Stockholm accents. Likes to go sailing, probably getting arrested for doing so drunk.

Moderate (Type two) - A member of an old inbreed aristocratic family who lives in a big villa or inherited family estate. Owns at least three cars, collect fine wines, and speak so slowly people fall asleep. Tries to ignore the fact that people stopped caring about your linage years ago. Has a summer house on the French riviera, and is married to a person twenty years younger.

Sweden Democrat - Paranoid teens who live in their parents' basement. Convinced that every immigrant is a type two Social Democrat. Belives that multi-culture is a consperacy by the jews to devide the white race in order to conqer the world from us. Plays a lot of WOW when they take a break from commenting on every freaking online news article and you tube video.

*Can't think of any People's Party stero-types except them being well-educated and jewish.

Alarmingly accurate stereotypes, CMB. You'll always get variations of course, but those are broadly true of my experience. Can't think of anyone from afleitch's experience, like.

I think there's an element of young, middle-class induhvidual free-market worshippers making up part of the stereotypical Tory vote too (true as well).
