There are unconfirmed reports that Senator DanielX is seeking higher office in the August and/or October elections. Although rather early, he has reputedly established an exploratory committee seeking the Presidential or Vice-Presidential nomination of the ACA, Union, and/or Libertarian parties. He is also considering a run for Midwest Governor in August if no other conservative candidate (ie PBRunsel or CheeseWhiz) runs.

I've thought about my senate run long and hard today, I've decided to run for re-election in the Gubernatorial race instead for a few reasons:

1) PBrunsel is running for re-election and Ilikeverin is almost sure to be appointed SoFA, so he probably won't be running for Governor, he might, but it's unlikely and Daniel will make a great Presidential candidate, so I should run and get that option out of your way Wink

2) I just don't follow the Fantasy Government Board like I do the Fantasy Elections Board.

3) I have a printed version of the Midwest Constitution, I like to read the whole thing over and over in my spare time just so that I have it imprinted in my brain, I've only read the whole Atlasian Constitution once.

So, Daniel, run for President, you'd make a great one Smiley

Regardless if I or someone else is the candidate, the ACA, Union, and Libertarian parties should all field a single ticket in October, to make a center/right victory more likely. I, for one, would find a MasterJedi/ColinW ticket very interesting, for example.

We tried that before and it didn't work. Plus I will never EVER be on the ticket as a VP candidate I think of that as a demotion from where I currently am. If I'm ever going to be on a Presidential ticket it will be on top of the ticket not in the number two spot.

1. Just because it didn't work once, doesn't mean I won't try again...
2. I'm perfectly fine with being Vice-President. In fact, I'd like to be veep slightly more then President.
3. I'll remember not to pick you as my vice-presidential candidate... Tongue

But the parties' ideologies are incongruous.  If I'd wanted to join one of those 2 other parties, I would have, but I made the deliberate decision to join the CUP.

If my party chooses to endorse or nominate such a hybrid candidate, I would switch to the ILP.

I don't mean you any disrespect, DanielX, but I personally would be opposed to such a plan.

Also, everyone, keep in mind this is only an exploratory committee. I might decide, come mid-august, to stick to the Senate, or maybe do some bootlicking in the hopes of a cabinet position. Tongue

Q, the CUP fully intends to run its own candidates for President/VP this upcoming October.  As always, we intend to field as many candidates for government positions, as this is the best way to keep an active and vibrant party organization.

If DanielX wishes to join the CUP (and possibly run for our nomination), he is entirely free to do so.  However, I fully object to the idea of any  fusion candidate, regardless of party, especially at a point this far out in the Presidential cycle.
