As we have probably observed, for this election cycle the DSCC has decided to stay on the sidelines during the primary season, unlike past election cycles such as 2016 or 2020 when they endorsed candidates during the primary season, especially in races that were widely regarded as competitive by most political analysts.

This is part of a series of threads surveying this forum about who the DSCC would have endorsed had they repeated their actions from past election cycles. For the purpose of this and other similarly related threads, I have only listed people who successfully filed and weren’t disqualified, and excluded those who declined to enter. I have also included a “someone else” option for those who think the would-be DSCC endorsee is someone not among the named options.

I think they would have endorsed Lamb.

Fetterman doesn't seem like the cookie cutter candidate they would typically endorse. That's not to say they wouldn't have, but they seem to endorse more neo-liberal generic candidates. Conor Lamb is a generic-Democrat. John Fetterman is anything but a generic-Democrat.

I don't think it's as easy as everyone thinks it is (which is in part the reason why they DID stay on the sidelines):

People keep forgetting Fetterman isn't some outsider, he's the sitting Lieutenant Governor of the state. I don't think the DSCC would've endorsed in this race even if it were in the habit of endorsing this year.

PA-SEN and WI-SEN and NC-SEN were the only Senate races with interesting Dem primaries this cycle, and NC-SEN is probably a hopeless cause anyway, so PA-SEN and WI-SEN are the only primaries even potentially relevant for a DSCC endorsement, and both featured fields of enough prominent figures in the state party that not stepping on toes was desirable.

Either Fetterman or Kenyatta.

Fetterman because he's the sitting Lieutenant Governor, or Kenyatta because he's quite frankly more representative of the party's base.

They wouldn't endorse Lamb, because of the three frontrunners, he was least likely to win the primary.
