Looking at congressional districts, I found the ones that were strongest for Obama and the ones strongest for McCain were basically populated by ignoramuses.

The strongest Obama districts were basically full of people who felt that "I'm gonna have a brother in the white house" and thought that they wouldn't have to go to school, go to work, because they thought that Obama was someone who would provide for them.

The strongest McCain districts were for the most part, full of people, who, when asked about Barack Obama, they would say "wut thuh hail konda nime is thay-at"

On the other hand, it seems that the swing districts (such as Minnesota 3 and Illinois 6) seem to have the most rational level-headed types that are independent in their voting habits and take the time to listen to the candidates and evaluate them and where they stand. Sometimes, I think there should be an aptitude tests given at polling stations before someone goes to the voting booth, to see if they have the mental capacity to make an informed decision. Now you may call me a racist, as it sounds similar to the poll tax, but it would bar ALL ignoramuses from voting whether they be anglo, hispanic, black, asian, republican, democrat etc.

I agree. In theory, anyway.

That second paragraph--I thought "wow, that makes you look like a partisan Republican hack" Tongue

Sometimes, I feel the same way, but I don't think I'd support an aptitude test.

Oh, and to answer the question: In most cases, definitely.

Block voting, yet poor districts, yes. What about bloc-voting, but affluent districts?

i don't think there are many bloc-voting affluent districts. But I would say it is still a sign of ignorance. If any of you guys follow stuff in the state legislature, there is this guy by the name of Bobby Franklin in the Georgia Assembly that represents a very ritzy part of the Atlanta Area (East Cobb) but who is a backwards yahoo and makes a lot of off-the-wall statements. This shows me that the people residing in his district, despite affluent, still are reactionary and likely vote solely on an identity, party, or a single issue.

what was the categorical basis for your analysis? did you do any multivariate regression?

It's nice to have someone who knows how black people think.

Maybe. Lots of people like to sit in their echo-chambers & have their prejudices be affirmed by those that are like them. Then again, it's not like you have to stay within your own community to be in an echo-chamber. You can find plenty on TV or on the radio or on the internet these days.

Not necessarily. It's on a case-by-case basis, if it is an extremely redneck or "brotha" enviroment, I might say so, but there could be places where it is a coincidence that that many republicans or democrats live in one area.

No.  Not a sure sign anyway.  There are many other reasons for en bloc voting besides ignorance.

This thread makes no sense whatsoever, and neither do the bulk of the comments.

Another question, a better question, is whether being in such an echo chamber makes you smarter or dumber, more educated or more ignorant..
