I was wondering what interest, if any, exists for starting a new political party... I had in mind a new centrist party, in the mold of the DA or its idealogical predecessors. It may not even have to be centrist; the party could be like the Kingdom Protista, where there is a mixture of sorts between different ideologies. I really don't know, this could go so many different ways, or none at all. Feel free to PM me (or other people, if you're more comfortable with that) with your ideas if you don't want to post them here.

Think of this hypothetical new party, or the question of its prospective existence, as a referendum on the state of parties in Atlasia right now, and maybe this will get somewhere.

A mixture between different ideologies probably wouldn't work so well if I understand what you mean by it. Remember the AUB.

Yeah, a cross-ideological party will not survive.

UDL tried to be kind of cross party, and look how it ended.

It really didn't, I'm sure there was some kind of discussion like that, but not based in fact - the UDL was never going to take the place of the JCP.

It's a major minor party and frankly, I never expected anything more, the UDL hasn't ended. It now up to the membership, of which there is still quite a few, to determine it's future.

UDL seems to finally gaining some track, but initially left ideology wasn't important for those who founded it. What was important was gaining as many members as possible.

The UDL was founded based on a few well known and popular personalities. When those people left the party/game, others who joined (like myself) went back to the other well known and popular personalities that they support.

I would join but I doubt we would be a major party without a defined platform.  I have a few ideas I might PM you about later today.  The big thing, though, is getting a "big name" Atlasian to join; otherwise people will view it as a kind of joke.

More important I think, is getting a federal-level officeholder to join and/or having somebody win a contested election under your party's banner. Of course, getting a "big name" Atlasian in your party helps achieve both of those goals.

I see what you're trying to do...

with all the refugees from the UDL as well as all the independents looking for a home, a party like this theoretically makes sense, but it would never work out.
