This should be required viewing for every Republican in the Senate

Agreed.

There really aren't very many Republicans in the Senate (or House) anymore, most of them have sold out to the teabag agenda.

Should be required viewing for all Americans. But, like Stewart said, to the Dems' discredit, they haven't really been pushing this issue.

Why are Republicans who voted for the trillion dollar Part D expansion stonewalling this, exactly?

It's actually a little baffling, because one would assume that even the most cynical political bastard would feel compelled to not filibuster this legislation.

How many politicians have voted against genuinely good policies out of fear of being accused of "raising taxes" (including conservative ideas that lower taxes overall like the Flat Tax)?  Shouldn't the same fear apply to voting against a 9/11 first responders bill?

Congress is just now addressing the issue of health care for 9/11 responders? or is it that their previous attempts at programs for this have been utter failures?

Their have been other bills, but they don't cover enough and fall short.   This particular one is named after one of them who died in 2006 as a result of breathing in the crap down there and is much more expansive than the previous ones.

It wouldn't have had a prayer with the GOP in charge of the executive or judicial branch. The GOP filibustered it earlier this Congress supposedly because it was part of a larger bill. Now that it's a standalone -surprise, surprise-they're still filibustering.

Though questionable whether he actually made the speech, the message to take out of it is just as important.

He was screaming at King, who I have to admit worked hard on the bill and did vote for the right way on it, but gave his party a pass for their actions.

If I said something substantive about this issue on this thread, I might regret it, so I will not. The end.

Yes I am doing a Sam Spade here. Deal with it. Tongue

The GOP has given in on this one. Thanks Jon Stewart.

It's completely insane to me that anyone would resist this.  I literally cannot think of a single valid reason as to why we shouldn't be willing to pay for any and all of their medical bills.

It passed by unanimous consent. Coburn was the last one stalling.
