Probably around 20-25 or so in CA, 5 or so in PA (Philly airport to Lancaster to Gettysburg, and back to Malvern, then over to Paoli, and train to Philly, 4 or so in NJ (train to NYC), 3-4 in NY (two in Manhattan, and one or two in Brooklyn), and 1 in AZ (whatever CD the Phoenix airport is in).

Oh, and whatever CD's one goes through on the trip from Midtown to Kennedy Airport. That probably adds another 3-4 CD's in Queens or something. Smiley

crazy idea!!

It would be awesome to try and visit every district within the 10 year period that they exist. You would have to wait until 2013 when the new districts go into effect. But it would be awesome if someone did this. Also I'm talking just going through the districts not actually doing something there. A lot of the districts are small in urban areas. I'm sure you could plan it so you just barely go into a district. If I did this I would take my picture in front of a sign or something that would prove I was in the district. Like a city sign or landmark, or some other sign. Yes this is really crazy but I want to travel the U.S. and visit lots of places anyways. I also want to visit every state. With some clever planning and lots of time you could do it.

That does bring up the interesting question of the least accessible district. At least most of the big empty ones like NE-03 have interstates running through them.

PA-05 may have an interstate but doesn't look very well traveled...

I would think that districts not in the lower 48 would win by default. Other than that, I would nominate NC-03 as having the fewest transportation links. I-95 only cuts through a small part of the district. To get into the heart of the district would take a bit of an effort.

I'd say AK-AL, HI-02 (the non-Honolulu areas), and ME-02 (up-country/Aroostook). KY-05 also seems relatively inaccessible, and I wonder if any of the other Appalachian districts are similar.

I was thinking of WV-03 as well, but from a map it looks like people may frequently drive through it even if most of it is very remote. Then again the only serious route I see that goes through it would be Cleveland to Charlotte, the rest of the interstates don't really connect any major cities in ways that aren't better accessible. VA-09 is basically the same, I-81 doesn't really head to anywhere major, Richmond to Knoxville if you take only interstates is the only other route I can see besides the aforementioned Cleveland to Charlotte. KY-05 and NC-03 granted do appear very out of the way as well. NY-23 also wouldn't be very traveled to if it wasn't for the tiny bit that just down and takes in I-90 heading to Syracuse.

yeah VA 3 is quite remote, especially the interstate 64 part east of the interstate 77. I drove this route on my way back from the Norfolk area to avoid the Washington D.C. area. There were times where there were only a few cars on the road and this was mid morning. It's a very beautiful drive though but lots of mountain driving. I almost hit a scrappy looking dog that ran across the freeway. The interstate 81 in western Virginia had a decent amount of traffic for a rural freeway, more than I thought. I just drove in for about 20 miles where in runs along with the 64. Once you get onto interstate 77 in Beckley there is a solid amount of traffic, but it still is quite rural.

VA-05 looks rather remote as well, with the only interstates being I-85 between Richmond and Durham (just a small portion actually runs through the district), and the aforementioned I-64. There's pretty much no convenient way to get anywhere south of Charlottesville.

MI-1 deserves a mention, while it's not difficult to get to from the rest of Michigan or Wisconsin, unless you are specifically heading there there is really no reason to.

I've been through KY-5 (and VA-9) on the way from the NC Triangle to Cincinnati, though I did stop over just over the border in Tennessee. NC-3 has many of the NC beaches, but I guess outside NC (and SC and VA), there won't be many people going to there.

I'm in TX-17 right now, and it's been an experience. I couldn't imagine being a business traveler here and not putting on 20 lbs.

This is even less impressive than it sounds because MN-2, 3, 4 and 5 all meet at a nexus, which is not too far form where I work. I was once in all four in one day when a guy was giving me a ride home and dropped me off at the light rail near the Mall of America.
