If Palin wins the nomination, Obama stays weak, and the economy double-dips then this is, IMHO, the most likely third party ticket to emerge.  Bloomberg clearly wants it and Scarborough is as good of a choice as any.

Joe S just denied the VP thing (the weirdest part of the story).

Makes sense for Bloomberg to think about (or even float this if he did) since Obama's approvals are under 50 and the GOP is even lower.  But in 18 months, Romney could be the GOP nominee and Obama approval could be across the 50 yard line and running would be a huge waste of $.

When I brought up Scarborough as a possible pub nominee, brittain33 quickly pointed out he has a girl found dead in his office issue, and a few personal ones too IIRC.

Scarborough should have run for governor of FL this year if he wanted a shot at a national election. The senate race this year would have been an impossibility, and he can't take out Bill Nelson. I like the guy, but running as a VP on a third party ticket gets him nowhere. He's only 47, but I think he missed the boat.

He's probably more well known than most Senators and Governors......he doesn't need that job or the Governor's job for the VP slot....

But dead women, infidelity rumors, and more tape on him than any candidate in history would prove harmul.

And I"m a BIG Joe guy.........I'd like to see him take the top slot in a ticket.

Yeah, but the VP slot on a third party ticket? That's lame, it does him no good. Obviously Bloomberg isn't going to win, and why would Joe give up being on TV every day making money to go around giving speeches for no reason? It doesn't advance his views any more than his current job, and there's no payoff.

The dead woman thing is overblown, and rumors of infidelity don't mean much anymore. I think they would be erased anyway were he to hold another office. It's not about name ID, its about him being a Rep for 6 years, that's just not enough experience. I mean, he's been out of politics for 9 years. That's too long, even in an anti-politician climate like this.

I'd like to see him as the GOP nominee for president more than anyone. Hell, I'd enthusiastically support him. But like I said, I think he's missed his chance. He should have run for governor, and served a term (he'd only be 51 at the end of it), then run for president in 2016. But who knows, maybe Nelson won't run in 2012 and Joe can take that seat, then run in 2016 still.

Obama served for 3 years as a U.S. Senator......vs. 6 years in the House?  And out of office doesn't mean out of touch.  I'd be happy to have him as a pub VP candidate.....not third party.

If Bloomberg runs and spends a billion i think he might win a state or two (let him take NJ, NY and/or CT) then he could throw a close election into the House, where the Republican would win.  (Republicans dominate the House delegations 33-16, one tie)

Given that the Democrats recruited third party "Te Party" candidates to siphon off Republican votes this year, maybe the Republicans should support Bloomberg to throw the election into the House?

Or he could cut a deal with Obama that gives up his electors in the electoral college, in exchange for certain policy concessions or some post in the administration or something.  If he knows he's going to lose anyway, why not get something for it, rather than let it go to the House?

What's new there?  He denies that he's running for president.  He's already denied it many times.  But as the article in the OP says:
