Oh Svensson, quit being such a drama mama.

Seriously man, I've liked and respected you since the first day you came to the forum, particularly when you initially demonstrated some independence at the Borg-like mind collective of the Pops hero-worship of a holocaust denying, 9/11 truther, "jewish conspiracy" theorist, all-around douche. But your self-pitying post to start this thread is beneath you.

Libby has worked harder than anyone imaginable to try getting booted, and was given more chances than anyone deserved. The difference between you and he is monumental.

Now grow a pair and get back to posting. Wink

Uh, he never denied the holocaust.  Say what you want about Libby but you don't need to make sh**t up.

We need to go back to the good old days even if that means removing new people that haven't caused trouble. The new crop is too annoying and/or bland. I don't understand the fascination with Libertas either. He wasn't fun.

There is an obsessive clique that will go gaga over any "libertarian" no matter how trollish or annoying they are. Hamilton from the same crowd is yet another example (basically missing Hamilton is something you should always be thankful for.)

Yeah it's almost as annoying as all those people who drool over Opebo.

Someone who is actually funny, witty, intelligent and interesting.

And why do people keep capitalizing opebo's name?

Certain people complained about my capitalization so I figured I'd be safe.

Because posters are people and it is natural to capitalize proper nouns.

Also, who really cares?

Kind of ironic considering your name. Wink

Ha, yep. I suppose if I realized I was going to stay here for a number of years I would have capitalized or come up with a more creative username.   I don't care if someone refers to me as Patrick, Patrick1, hey numbnuts- all works for me.

Svensson, first you're criticizing certain posters of "causing a drama", and then you're doing exactly the same.

I respectfully disagree with you when you're talking about some crackdown of libertarians, performed my leftist (well, I wonder if Inks and Sam are glad of this label Wink) moderators.

Libertas get banned because of his constant trolling. No poster got so many second chances (and some posters, like Einzige or Jamepol, were banned much quicker), and for showing all us us middle finger each time he was given just another chance, the douche simply deserved a good kick.

Libertas attitude was a problem, not his views. If there were crackdown of forum Libertarians, ill will from Dave (who is, you all must admit, very very lenient), a lot of you wouldn't be here anymore. But no one is targetting, for example, Dallas, Han or Mechaman. Why? Because they all do not act like douches and can show some basic respect to other posters, despite political disagreements. Those are people who can keep a civil discourse.

And you, pal, were one of them. I wish you'd be again a guy with firm convictions yet an ability to post without provocative hostility.

So, I'm requesting friendly, stop trying to get yourself banned. Because if you succeed, those would be just a consequences of your own decision, not some "big bad conspiracy".

I'm proud to say I'm a friend with a number of Libertarians on this forum, despite our political disagreements, and while I disagree with his recent stance, they're great people who did not deserve comparisons to troll Libertas, some forum lefties are making.

However, some of you, guys, needs to chill out and not enter the idiotic path Libertas choose. There's no conspiracy, no crackdown.

It's a pity considering you started out as one of those rare examples of modern Teabaggers/libertarians with a brain and some intelligence, and were actually independent of the Libertard clan at first; but seemingly it is harder and harder to resist incorporation into the troll-libertarian caucus around here. So, good riddance. Please try retrieving your brain while you're out.

I'm not. He certainly defended holocaust deniers, and not on free speech grounds. His professed love of Deesillistration.com certainly belies otherwise when that website is chock full of holocaust denial and other general "jewish banker" conspiracy BS.

If you read what he said about WWII, it's also not hard to see that he was a Nazi sympathizer. He argued that the US was misled into war by a pro-Soviet regime.

I just don't see how the current environment of a kind of censorship police state, with everyone second-guessing everything they do and say, and people consantly complaining (as they should) about it, and threatening to leave, taunting one another about their reactions is any better than the old free environment.

What really is the point gentlemen?  Free speech is just so much easier - you don't have to read 'trolls', whatever that is.  The censorship forum is in fact much farther removed from substantive political debate than the free one was.

When did this censorship forum start? I haven't noticed any differences since I have joined the forum.

It hasn't. If you are civil about it, and don't push the limits of extreme bigotry, and just use a little bit of common sense and diplomacy, you can post whatever you want on this forum, with whatever opinion. I certainly do, and that is one reason I am so loyal to this particular place. Smiley
