Ha, Quinn winning this would be so hilarious. It's like Illinoisans just woke up and though "Oh wait we are about to elect an extreme right-winger from downstate as Governor" and swung back.

Not that the Chicago Tribune should be taken too seriously.....but WTF is going on here? I mean, I'm happy that Quinn seems to be gaining, but I see no rational explanation for it right now.

People finally realized they were about to elect a hardcore far right wing extremist as Governor?

What caused them to suddenly realize this? It's not like Brady has had any real gaffes or anything lately that would cause them to notice all of a sudden. And attacks on Brady calling him "too extreme for Illinois" have been running for months with no positive effect for Quinn.

It's good to see, but I can't really understand it.

Brady is SCUM. One of the worst people running this year. Dog murdering scum. If he loses, I'll laugh my ass off.

It wouldn't be Illinois if anyone decent ran for office.

This is about the time of the year where everyone and their mother releases a poll. They should not all be taken seriously.

This same poll had Brady up by 5 a few weeks ago when everyone else had him up by double digits.

There is definitely tightening going on in this race.

If Brady wants to win, he is going to have to present someting--like an actual budget plan (not GOP talking points and broad platitudes, but actually something specific on paper--which so far he has refused to do.  Don't want to be tied down to any specifics now do we?).

Vote for me because  "I'm not Pat Quinn" simply isn't going to cut it.

Quinn's definitely still behind....but it's getting tighter.

The Democrats have generally been doing a bit better the past couple of weeks. I think it has to do with the intensity gap. Normally, both parties get more support as Election Day approaches because tuned-out voters become tuned in. But the high interest level on the right and far-right means they already had those people tuned in, while the Democrats didn't. Now at least some Democrats are starting to take notice of the elections.

Why do I feel like this race is Corzine 2009 all over again?

Could the Republicans actually whiff in IL yet again, from top to bottom?  Unreal.

If the GOP loses this one, they have the same reason to blame as in Delaware: Idiot primary voters nominating a far right extremist.

To be fair, Brady only won with like 20% of the vote. In Delaware O'Donnell was elected by a majority of the GOP.

They have a 50% chance of ending up in prison... so it doesn't matter.

Please, please let this be true. The worse thing that could happen to Illinois now is electing a far-right creationist nutcase.
