The way things are headed now the only takeaway the Dems have is the Joseph Lieberman seat in CT barring that the Dems are gonna lose 5-7 seats NJ, OH, VA, MT, NEB and MO.

As much as I'd like to believe New Jersey ... who do Republicans have available to run? They have five congresscritters; deadended in their offices, all.

Their congressional Delegation is pretty good.  The big factor here is how weak Menendez is.  The guy won by a embarrassingly low margin in New Jersey in 2006 against a no-name, which suggests that in a more neutral environment, he'll be very vulnerable.

His opponent was the son of the most popular governor NJ has had in my lifetime who had built his own career in the state senate. He may not have been a very strong candidate, but he was one of the strongest possible candidates for NJ Republicans, and his name was his #1 asset.

Agreed. He was pretty much the best candidate the Republicans could put up. In a Presidential year in 2012 you'd have to put NJ as Lean-D at this point.

Tom Kean Jr. was a stellar candidate ... on paper. In practice, he was lackluster. A case of a really smart guy putting too much trust in some not-so-smart advisers.

He's currently State Senate Minority Leader, and from what I hear, he does a pretty decent job at it.

Their congressional Delegation is pretty good.

The point was that none of them will actually run. Though I'll say that Leonard Lance would make a stellar candidate ... on paper.

He just got elected in 2008, I'm not sure he'd want to run right now for the Senate seat. I do agree he'd probably be the best candidate the Republicans could nominate and he'd have a good shot at the seat.
