Paul very well could win by double digits.  This election is a referendum on President Obama, and Kentucky is part of the Appalachian Belt that absolutely despises Obama.  53% Strongly disapprove of the job Obama's doing, according to Rasmussen.  Rand Paul himself is largely irrelevant.

Fits the SUSA poll. Conway is only winning 65% of Dems, and while I do expect that number to go up he's not going to get to 90% or anything, so that makes it very tough for him to win.

As long as Rand Paul can successfully frame it as a referendum on Obama, he's doing great. Conway's best strategy is obviously to make the election about Rand Paul, & particularly his views that are out of the mainstream of the state of Kentucky.

Eh, environment being what it is, a monkey would probably win if given the Republican endorsement. Democrats still picked the wrong candidate, though.

Weren't most the forum dems thinking the other guy was the weaker candidate before the primary?

I believe most of the polling showed that he was. Also, the other candidate was a jerk and a complete right-winger.

You mean they should've picked the non-Louisville guy?  Yep.  Smiley

Mongiardo would have hardly been any better than a Republican, so it would have been lose-lose for the Democrats.

Unfortunately, Jim Bunning decided against running again.
