Go.

(To me, one of the only FFs receiving mainstream speculation for 2012)

Eh, HP I guess, though he doesn't have many stated positions on national issues.

His estimate for the cost of the Iraq war grossly underestimated the cost.

I don't think he has a stated position on that. He's mainly about economics, so much so that he's called for politicians to temporarily forget social issues to focus on fixing the economy.

Uh, Iraq had (and continues to have) a pretty massive price-tag attached to it that will add trillions to our national debt.

Which makes it interesting that he's never explicitly stated that position. Nevertheless, the Tea Party base seems to support him, and their main concern seems to be our financial situation, so something must add up.

That said, he is a bit mysterious in terms of issues.

He did say something about slashing defense spending but wasn't specific.

He was the Director of the Office of Management and Budget under George W. Bush. Enough said.

That sounds pretty ominous, but what was Daniels' actual record in that capacity? Did he really have any say on what Bush and Congress decided to spend?

I wonder how that old woman from 2008 will react when she finds out he's Syrian.  Will her head explode?

Nope, needless to say, justl ike Portman, I think he enjoyed getting to heck out of that suicide mission. He did cut lots of pork or attempted to and I beleive that is how he got the nickname "the blade" but Congress usually put all of his cuts back in during the appropriations process. He called for Entitlement Reform like all the OMB's but off course getting Congress to do anyhting on that is impossible.
